Laser Process Engineer
Seeking a Laser Process Engineer to develop advanced manufacturing processes and optimize laser-based production systems.
Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Optics, or related field (Master’s preferred)

5+ years of experience with laser-based materials processing in production or R&D

In-depth knowledge of laser physics, optics, and industrial laser systems

Proficiency with laser programming and CAD software (e.g., CircuitCAM, SolidWorks)

Experience with statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), and root cause analysis

Familiarity with automotive quality standards, including IATF 16949
Preferred Skills
-
Experience improving yield and reducing scrap in manufacturing environments

Knowledge of Six Sigma tools including PFMEA and SPC
-
Strong background in scaling manufacturing processes and cost-reduction initiatives
Job Responsibilities

Develop advanced manufacturing and precision packaging processes using laser systems
-
Specify, develop, and qualify new laser equipment and processes for production deployment

Monitor production line performance and lead troubleshooting with operators, supervisors, and technicians

Maintain and optimize laser programs for quality and efficiency
-
Analyze process data to improve yield, throughput, cost, and efficiency

Serve as technical liaison with laser equipment vendors for next-generation technology integration

Lead continuous improvement initiatives and implement zero-defect strategies

Collaborate with NPI and design engineering teams to optimize manufacturability and yield

Support IATF 16949 certification readiness and automotive compliance

Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions

Document processes, equipment specifications, procedures, and performance metrics
-
Ensure compliance with laser safety standards and best practices
Pay Details: $95,000.00 to $120,000.00 per year
