COMP BACKFILL-General Dynamics Land systems-Sights and Electro-Optical Sensors Optical Engineer
Design, develop, and test advanced optical systems and components for integration into military vehicle platforms from concept through production.
Job Requirements:
-
Bachelors degree in Physics, Optics, Electro-Optical Engineering, or related field
-
Minimum 10 years of experience in optical system design
-
Experience with physical and geometrical optics
-
Proficiency in optical design software such as Zemax and NV-IPM
-
Familiarity with analog and digital video standards (RS-170, HD-SDI, LVDS, DVI, DisplayPort, 3G/6G SDI)
-
Basic optics lab skills, including alignment and calibration
-
Experience designing, testing, and qualifying optical components and subsystems
Preferred Skills:
-
Experience with CREO/Pro-E CAD software
-
Understanding of video distribution techniques
-
Knowledge of Military Standards and test requirements
-
Experience with electro-optical systems such as thermal imaging, cameras, lasers, radar, and stabilized optics

Familiarity with hardware and software test documentation and engineering reviews
-
Background in component selection and procurement processes
Job Responsibilities:
-
Design optical systems from architecture analysis and trade studies through to qualification
-
Create specifications, test plans, and documentation for optical components
-
Select and procure components, and oversee hardware builds
-
Perform alignment, calibration, and testing of optical systems
-
Support integration and testing of electro-optical sensors and systems on vehicle platforms

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for full system integration

Review and contribute to requirements documents, engineering reviews, and system-level test plans
Pay Details: $56.00 to $75.00 per hour
