Requirements

  • 4-axis and 5-axis programming experience (full 5-axis and 3+2 positioning).

  • Esprit programming experience for Mill-Turn; candidates with multi-axis Mill-Turn experience in Mastercam or equivalent considered.

  • Demonstrated use of dynamic toolpath strategies in Esprit.

  • Proficiency programming CW turn-mill platforms with twin spindles, lower turret, and upper B-axis milling spindle with chain-type tool changers.

  • Ability to create and manage sync codes between B-axis milling and lower lathe turret operations.

  • Experience with A-axis/sub-spindle pick-off and hand-off from main to sub.

  • Solid understanding of 5-axis vs. 3+2 programming concepts and verification methods.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience machining and programming for 4340 and similar alloy steels.

  • Familiarity with Mori Seiki NT/NTX (e.g., 4250) and Okuma MacTurn 350 or comparable twin-spindle turn-mill machines.

  • Knowledge of post-processing, machine kinematics, and collision-avoidance/simulation workflows.

  • Background optimizing feeds/speeds, tool selection, and cycle-time reduction for Mill-Turn.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and prove-out CNC Mill-Turn programs for twin-spindle, B-axis machines (full 5-axis and 3+2).

  • Configure sync codes to coordinate B-axis milling with lower turret turning operations.

  • Program sub-spindle (A-axis) pick-off/transfer sequences and part hand-offs.

  • Select tooling, holders, and cutting parameters; define setups and work offsets for complex, multi-op parts.

  • Generate setup sheets and tool lists; support first-article run-offs and process documentation.

  • Troubleshoot toolpaths, refine strategies using dynamic toolpath features, and drive continuous cycle-time and surface-finish improvements.
