Packaging Engineer
Packaging Engineer leads design, testing, and regulatory compliance for hazardous-material packaging and shipment of defense hardware.
Job Requirements

Bachelors degree in Packaging Engineering or related engineering field

Eligibility for Secret security clearance
-
4 + years manufacturing or defense experience creating special packaging instructions and hazardous-material shipping documentation

Proficiency with Mechanical CAD; CREO / PTC Pro E preferred

Working knowledge of DOT 49 CFR Parts 171-180, ASTM D 3951, ICAO Technical Instructions, and IMDG Code
-
Familiarity with military packaging specifications, RFID tracking, and product-data-management workflows

Experience planning and executing Performance-Oriented Packaging (POP) tests and reports

Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills
Preferred Skills

Lean exposure to cost-effective packaging design for aerospace or missile systems

Discrete-event test planning and coordination with certified laboratories

CREO surfacing and sheet-metal module expertise

Value-stream mapping for packaging, handling, and storage operations
Job Responsibilities
-
Develop special packaging instructions to support initial hazard classification, fabrication, and shipment of flight and ground-test hardware

Prepare POP test plans; coordinate laboratory testing; observe trials; collect data; and compile DID-1030 compliant reports for DOT container certification

Coordinate with shipping departments, regulatory agencies, and program teams to resolve packaging questions and ensure on-time hardware delivery

Schedule and conduct Packaging, Handling, and Storage (PHS) technical reviews; define efficient, economical protection requirements for all system materiel

Design commercial packaging in accordance with ASTM D 3951 for test flights, logistics demonstrations, and system-support packages

Verify hazardous hardware is packaged, labeled, and documented per DOT and military regulations; maintain current regulatory references

Analyze site handling-equipment needs and confirm adequate facilities at depots and installations throughout the program lifecycle
Pay Details: $50.00 to $53.00 per hour
