Leads engineering design and implementation of protective relay systems and control schemes for electrical utility infrastructure, ensuring regulatory compliance and optimal power system reliability.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in power systems engineering, protection, and control systems

  • Expertise in protection and control design for substations up to 138 kV

  • Familiar with NERC PRC and CIP standards

  • Experience with transmission lines, transformers, capacitors, and circuit breakers

  • Knowledge of downstream electrical elements including MMCs, motors, switchgears, and electrical panels

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Willingness to travel up to 35% to manufacturing facilities


Preferred Skills:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E. or P.Eng)

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  • Experience managing engineering scope, cost, schedule, and risk on complex projects


Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead Protection and Control team in the development and review of relay settings and IED data maps

  • Develop and maintain asset registers and hierarchies for protection systems

  • Perform audits and ensure maintenance/testing of protection systems is completed within required timeframes

  • Analyze technical data and develop operating procedures for real-time system reliability

  • Provide reports on system performance relative to KPIs

  • Design and review protection packages for capital projects, including logic diagrams and GOOSE messaging

  • Maintain complete project documentation and design records

  • Ensure protection assets are cataloged and maintained according to industry and manufacturer standards

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver electrical design packages for medium and high voltage systems



Pay Details: $60.00 to $81.00 per hour
