Sr Mechanical Design Engineer
Senior Turbomachinery Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for designing rotating equipment, leading mechanical development, supporting manufacturing and testing, and maintaining engineering configuration and product documentation.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
10+ years of mechanical design experience.
3+ years of turbomachinery design experience.
Experience with rotating equipment, including turbines, compressors, pumps, or similar machinery.
Experience with mechanical component and assembly design.
Experience developing manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation.
Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD tools.
Strong knowledge of GD&T in accordance with ANSI Y14.5.
Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
Experience with engineering configuration control.
Experience supporting products through concept, detailed design, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and field support.
Knowledge of material selection, manufacturing methods, tolerancing, and assembly processes.
Preferred Skills
Strong proficiency with SolidWorks.
Experience with high-speed rotating equipment.
Experience with precision machinery.
Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
Knowledge of Design for Assembly (DFA).
Experience with machining, fabrication, welding, and advanced manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Experience supporting troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective design changes.
Previous engineering leadership or supervisory experience.
Job Responsibilities
Design turbomachinery components, assemblies, and supporting mechanical systems.
Develop compressors, turbines, pumps, and related rotating equipment.
Lead mechanical design activities from concept through production and testing.
Select materials, manufacturing methods, tolerances, and assembly processes.
Develop designs that meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost requirements.
Review CAD models, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and engineering change documentation.
Support manufacturing, assembly, and test activities.
Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis on mechanical and turbomachinery issues.
Develop corrective design improvements based on test, manufacturing, and field data.
Support project planning and technical proposal activities.
Maintain engineering data, product configuration, and documentation within PDM systems.
Provide technical guidance to mechanical engineers and CAD designers.
Support customer meetings, project activities, and testing when required.
Travel occasionally for customer support, project execution, or testing activities.
Pay: 120k-150k/year
