Sr. Electrical Engineer
Design, develop, test, and support lithium-ion battery management and power electronics systems from circuit-level development through product qualification and manufacturing.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Minimum of five years of relevant electrical engineering experience
- Experience designing small-signal analog and digital electronics
- Experience designing power electronics
- Experience with energy storage and control systems for multi-cell rechargeable lithium-ion battery packs
- Experience developing battery management systems
- Experience preparing engineering specifications and product performance test plans
- Experience with safety and compliance testing, including UL, military standards, FCC, or comparable requirements
- Experience with mixed-signal electronics
- Experience using Altium and/or OrCAD for schematic capture and PCB layout
- Experience developing schematics, PCB layouts, Circuit Card Assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials
- Ability to assemble and rework prototypes using surface-mount components
- Experience developing hardware integration, verification, validation, and qualification plans
- Ability to work onsite in an engineering and manufacturing environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience with high-voltage and high-power electronics
- Experience with motive power or grid energy storage systems
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
- Experience with environmental, safety, industrial, military, and EMC/EMI qualification testing
- Experience supporting subcontract manufacturers and third-party suppliers
- Experience with component obsolescence management
- Experience with Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
- Experience with Design for Manufacturability
- Experience with Design to Cost
- Experience developing high-reliability and safety-critical electronic systems
- Experience supporting manufacturing troubleshooting and production test systems
Job Responsibilities
- Design lithium battery systems from system level through circuit level
- Develop battery management system hardware and associated electronics
- Design analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronic circuits
- Create schematics, PCB layouts, CCA drawings, and bills of materials
- Develop Hardware Design Specifications and Hardware Design Description documents
- Conduct experimental testing and analyze test data
- Develop test plans and procedures for production test systems
- Prepare engineering test reports and qualification documentation
- Develop and execute hardware integration, verification, validation, and qualification plans
- Support product testing for environmental, safety, military, industrial, and EMC/EMI requirements
- Coordinate external laboratory testing and qualification activities
- Support hardware bring-up and system integration with software engineering teams
- Lead and participate in internal and external design reviews
- Support mechanical packaging development for electronic assemblies
- Support manufacturing with hardware troubleshooting and design issues
- Coordinate technical activities with suppliers and subcontract manufacturers
- Support component selection, purchasing requirements, and obsolescence management
- Participate in DFMEA activities
- Support DFM and DTC activities
- Build and evaluate electronic prototypes using surface-mount components
Pay Details: $90,000.00 to $100,000.00 per year
