Project Engineer responsible for leading product development programs from quoting through production launch within medical device and plastics manufacturing environments.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of project engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of plastics manufacturing experience.
  • 5+ years of plastics injection molding experience.
  • Experience reviewing part designs for draft, side actions, shutoffs, and manufacturability.
  • Knowledge of plastic mold features driven by part geometry.
  • Knowledge of plastic mold construction and mold design review.
  • Experience with medical molding.
  • Experience with High-Consistency Rubber, gum silicone, and/or Liquid Silicone Rubber molding.
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Experience performing capability studies.
  • Knowledge of steel-safe and tolerance-safe tooling concepts.
  • Experience managing project timelines using tools such as Microsoft Project and Gantt charts.
  • Experience managing multiple suppliers, including mold makers and material suppliers.
  • Experience managing project budgets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience using ERP systems; IQMS experience preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in the medical device industry.
  • Experience with thermoplastic injection molding.
  • Experience with thermoset injection molding.
  • Experience with automation systems including press robots and automated assembly equipment.
  • Experience with secondary operations including deflashing, assembly, testing, and decorating.
  • Experience evaluating manufacturing options based on cost impact.
  • Experience supporting medical device component manufacturing programs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional engineering programs from quoting through production launch.
  • Review product designs for manufacturability and tooling requirements.
  • Evaluate mold designs, tooling concepts, and mold construction approaches.
  • Support development of medical molding processes and production methods.
  • Apply APQP methods throughout product and process development.
  • Develop and support DOE activities and capability studies.
  • Evaluate tooling strategies using steel-safe and tolerance-safe concepts.
  • Coordinate automation requirements, including press robots and automated assembly equipment.
  • Develop and evaluate secondary manufacturing operations.
  • Compare manufacturing and tooling options based on technical requirements and cost impact.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and Gantt charts.
  • Coordinate activities with mold makers, material suppliers, and other external suppliers.
  • Track project budgets, tooling costs, and manufacturing development expenses.
  • Support production readiness and manufacturing launch activities.
  • Maintain project, tooling, process, and production documentation within ERP and business systems.


Pay Details: $105,000.00 to $130,000.00 per year
