Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of structured cabling construction experience
  • Experience estimating structured cabling projects valued at $1 million or more
  • Experience reviewing requests for proposals, construction plans, specifications, and related bid documents
  • Experience performing material takeoffs and labor estimates
  • Knowledge of BICSI and ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards
  • Experience developing structured cabling system designs
  • Experience preparing detailed scopes of work
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience obtaining pricing from manufacturers and distributors
  • Ability to conduct jobsite surveys in active construction environments
  • Ability to work onsite in an office and client project environment

Preferred Skills

  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer certification
  • Additional BICSI certifications
  • Manufacturer certifications from CommScope, Panduit, or comparable structured cabling manufacturers
  • Data center and mission-critical facility experience, including hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise environments
  • Commercial office, manufacturing, healthcare, hospital, or medical office building experience
  • Conceptual budgeting and cost-modeling experience
  • Structured cabling field installation experience
  • Audio-visual system estimating or design experience
  • Security system estimating or design experience
  • Experience preparing project submittals and change orders
  • Experience with estimating, takeoff, design, or construction management software

Job Responsibilities

  • Review requests for proposals with sales and project teams
  • Analyze plans, specifications, and client requirements
  • Develop requests for information to resolve missing or conflicting project details
  • Perform physical and electronic takeoffs for cabling materials, equipment, and components
  • Develop labor estimates, material estimates, conceptual budgets, and detailed cost models
  • Obtain product pricing from distributors and manufacturers
  • Prepare written scopes of work based on plans and specifications
  • Evaluate bid documents for accuracy, completeness, and constructability
  • Identify scope gaps required for complete and operational technology systems
  • Design structured cabling systems when required
  • Conduct site surveys to document existing conditions and installation requirements
  • Prepare bid proposals, project-specific submittals, and change orders
  • Compile turnover documentation for project operations teams
  • Coordinate estimating and design information with sales, clients, and project personnel
  • Apply structured cabling standards and manufacturer requirements to system designs
  • Represent the organization at trade shows and industry events


Pay Details: $120,000.00 to $160,000.00 per year
