Project Engineer responsible for leading cross-functional medical molding and component manufacturing programs from quoting through production launch.

Job Requirements

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in plastic manufacturing
  • Experience leading programs from quoting stage through production launch
  • Experience managing multiple projects at the same time
  • Experience reviewing part designs for draft, side-actions, shutoffs, and basic manufacturability requirements
  • Understanding of tooling and mold design
  • Understanding of mold features related to part geometry
  • Understanding of mold construction basics
  • Experience reviewing mold designs
  • Medical molding experience
  • High-Consistency Rubber, gum silicone, or Liquid Silicone molding experience
  • Understanding of good manufacturing practices and Advanced Product Quality Planning
  • Experience with project timeline management using MS Project, Gantt charts, or equivalent tools
  • Experience managing multiple suppliers, including mold makers and material suppliers
  • Experience managing project budgets
  • Fundamental computer skills
  • Working knowledge of business software, including Excel and Word
  • Ability to use a standard ERP system
  • Ability to use required PPE, including safety glasses and side shields

  • Thermoplastic injection molding experience
  • Thermoset injection molding experience
  • IQMS experience
  • Experience with Design of Experiments
  • Experience with capability studies
  • Understanding of “Steel Safe” or “Tolerance Safe” concepts
  • Experience with automation concepts, including press robots and automated assembly equipment
  • Experience with secondary operations, including deflashing, assembly, testing, and decorating
  • Experience evaluating cost impact of tooling, manufacturing, automation, and secondary operation options

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams from quoting stage through production launch
  • Support medical device and component manufacturing programs
  • Review part designs for draft, side-actions, shutoffs, and basic manufacturability requirements
  • Review tooling concepts, mold features, and mold construction details
  • Support medical molding programs involving silicone, rubber, thermoplastic, or thermoset materials
  • Apply APQP methods during program planning and launch activities
  • Support Design of Experiments, capability studies, and related process development activities
  • Evaluate tooling, automation, secondary operation, and manufacturing options based on cost and project impact
  • Manage project schedules, milestones, suppliers, budgets, and deliverables
  • Coordinate supplier activities with mold makers, material suppliers, and related vendors
  • Track project progress from quote through production launch
  • Support production launch readiness and handoff activities
  • Use ERP systems and business software to support project tracking, documentation, and reporting
  • Perform additional assigned duties related to project engineering, tooling, manufacturing launch, and program support


Pay Details: $110,000.00 to $130,000.00 per year
