Lead Quality Engineer needed to lead quality support, customer quality issue resolution, quality documentation, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar quality engineering role within a vertically integrated manufacturing environment
  • Experience in automotive, lighting, plastics, or a similar manufacturing industry required
  • Experience with warranty and customer quality issues required
  • Experience processing quality documentation through major customer portals
  • Experience with customer portals such as Caterpillar, GM, Ford, Chrysler, or similar systems
  • Knowledge of PPAP and APQP
  • Knowledge of quality systems audits
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools, including:
    • 8D
    • A3
    • 5-Why
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 quality systems
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • Understanding of SCP
  • Ability to lead quality inspectors and junior quality engineers
  • Ability to interface with customers regarding requirements, issues, portal documentation, and site visits
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred

Preferred Skills

  • Caterpillar customer portal experience
  • Six Sigma training
  • 2+ years of project management or process development experience
  • Experience supporting product design quality requirements
  • Experience driving continuous improvement for assigned product lines, processes, and customers
  • Experience working with quality, manufacturing, engineering, and supplier teams
  • Experience developing and maintaining quality assurance processes

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead quality inspectors and junior quality engineers
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes
  • Ensure quality guidelines, procedures, and standards are followed throughout manufacturing operations and product design
  • Conduct root cause analyses for quality issues
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across assigned product lines, processes, and customers
  • Work with quality, manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers to identify process improvement opportunities
  • Resolve customer quality issues
  • Support warranty-related quality investigations and corrective actions
  • Interface with customers to determine quality requirements and resolve issues
  • Manage quality documentation through customer portals
  • Support customer site visits and portal-related quality documentation requirements
  • Ensure customer and regulatory requirements are consistently met
  • Support quality systems audits and compliance activities
  • Apply PPAP, APQP, 8D, A3, 5-Why, GD&T, SCP, and ISO 9001 practices to quality processes


Pay Details: $40.00 to $50.00 per hour
