SMTS-Mechanical Engineer
Senior Mechanical Hardware Engineer responsible for end-to-end mechanical and electromechanical hardware development, analysis, verification, certification, and production support for complex aerospace systems.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field
6+ years of experience with mechanical or electromechanical design, analysis, testing, and/or manufacturing
Experience developing complex mechanical hardware systems
Proficiency with CAD tools such as Creo and SolidWorks
Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), including tools such as FloTHERM or FloEFD
Experience performing engineering hand calculations
Experience validating designs through analytical and simulation methods
Experience with GD&T
Experience performing tolerance stack-up analysis
Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
Knowledge of Design for Assembly (DFA)
Experience developing production-ready mechanical drawings
Preferred Skills
Aerospace or other high-reliability hardware development experience
Experience with aircraft systems or avionics hardware integration
Experience with electronic board assembly mechanical design and integration
Experience with PCB mounting strategies and thermal management
Knowledge of chip-level, package-level, and board-level electronics integration
Knowledge of FAA certification processes
Familiarity with DO-160 and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations
Experience with RF and EMI/EMC considerations in mechanical hardware design
Experience supporting high-rate production or in-house manufacturing operations
Knowledge of supply chain and production processes
Product lifecycle management experience
Strong foundation in statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials engineering
Job Responsibilities
Lead mechanical and electromechanical hardware development from concept through production and in-service operation
Own mechanical design, hardware verification, qualification testing, production ramp-up, and field deployment activities
Define mechanical design criteria and system-level hardware requirements
Perform engineering analysis using hand calculations, FEA, CFD, and CAD tools
Develop and evaluate mechanical concepts during system trade studies
Perform structural, thermal, and mechanical performance analysis
Lead mechanical hardware design reviews
Support hardware qualification and certification activities
Develop detailed production drawings using GD&T
Perform tolerance stack-up analyses for production designs
Design mechanical integration solutions for electronic boards and assemblies
Develop mounting and thermal management solutions for electronic hardware
Apply DFM and DFA principles to production hardware
Reduce part count, process steps, and manufacturing complexity
Implement error-proofing features in mechanical designs
Support production ramp-up and manufacturing issue resolution
Coordinate product lifecycle requirements from supply chain through final system integration
Support hardware development through concept, design, build, qualification, production, and field service phases
Implement design changes to improve hardware reliability, performance, and manufacturability
Pay: 49-66/hr

Pay Details: $49.00 to $66.00 per hour
