Metallurgist
Support metallurgical production activities through material disposition, process development, statistical analysis, and quality system compliance.
Job Requirements
Four-year degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
Associate degree and/or equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
0–5 years of experience in a metallurgical role, preferably within a metal manufacturing environment.
Experience providing technical support on a production floor.
Knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods, and practices.
Knowledge of metallurgical and production equipment.
Understanding of statistical methods, Six Sigma, and Business Process Improvement (BPI) practices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Preferred Skills
Experience in metal manufacturing.
Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC).
Experience applying Six Sigma or BPI tools in a manufacturing environment.
Experience designing and analyzing experiments.
Experience developing processes for new products.
Experience reviewing technical specifications and product requirements.
Experience with metallurgical quality systems and nonconforming material disposition.
Job Responsibilities
Evaluate and disposition referred, nonconforming, and off-standard materials.
Ensure applicable quality system requirements are incorporated into assigned metallurgical activities.
Identify, document, and report metallurgical deviations.
Develop corrective actions for metallurgical and material-related issues.
Determine disposition requirements for affected products.
Maintain required product information within applicable data and quality systems.
Apply statistical methods to investigate manufacturing and metallurgical issues.
Design and support experiments related to materials and process performance.
Apply SPC, Six Sigma, and BPI tools to identify process inefficiencies.
Develop processing methods for new products.
Review customer inquiries, specifications, and technical requirements for new products.
Provide metallurgical support for production, quality, engineering, and manufacturing projects.
Provide technical training related to metallurgical processes and requirements.
Provide technical guidance within the metallurgical functional area.
Pay: 85k-90k/year

Pay Details: $85,000.00 to $90,000.00 per year
