Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Lead mechanical and electromechanical hardware development from concept through production, qualification, deployment, and in-service support for complex aerospace systems.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.

• 6+ years of experience with mechanical or electromechanical design, analysis, testing, and/or manufacturing.

• Experience developing mechanical hardware for complex systems.

• Experience with engineering analysis methods, including hand calculations and simulation.

• Experience creating production-ready engineering drawings.

• Knowledge of mechanical design, materials, statics, dynamics, and thermodynamics.

Preferred Skills

• Aerospace, avionics, or other high-reliability hardware development experience.

• Proficiency with Creo.

• Experience with SolidWorks.

• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

• Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools such as Flotherm or FloEFD.

• Experience validating designs through analytical calculations and simulation.

• Experience with electronic board assembly mechanical design, including mounting, packaging, and thermal management.

• Knowledge of chip-level, package-level, and board-level electronics integration.

• Advanced knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

• Experience performing tolerance stack-up analysis.

• Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).

• Familiarity with FAA certification processes.

• Knowledge of DO-160, Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), or related aerospace standards.

• Experience integrating aircraft systems or avionics hardware.

• Knowledge of RF and EMI/EMC considerations affecting mechanical hardware design.

• Experience supporting high-rate production or in-house manufacturing environments.

• Knowledge of supply chain, manufacturing processes, and product lifecycle management.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end mechanical and electromechanical hardware development from conceptual design through production and in-service operation.

• Own hardware design, verification, qualification testing, production ramp-up, and field deployment activities.

• Define mechanical design criteria and system-level hardware requirements.

• Perform engineering analyses using hand calculations, FEA, CFD, and CAD tools.

• Develop and evaluate design concepts supporting system trade studies.

• Lead mechanical design reviews and support component and system certification activities.

• Develop detailed production drawings using GD&T.

• Perform tolerance stack-up analyses to verify manufacturability and mechanical performance.

• Develop mechanical integration, mounting, packaging, and thermal management solutions for electronic assemblies.

• Apply DFM and DFA principles to reduce part count, process steps, and manufacturing complexity.

• Develop error-proofing strategies for production hardware.

• Support product lifecycle activities from supply chain and manufacturing through final system integration.

• Manage hardware development activities across concept, design, build, qualification, production, deployment, and service phases.

• Implement design changes addressing hardware reliability, performance, manufacturing, and lifecycle requirements.

Pay: 40-60/hr

Pay Details: $40.00 to $60.00 per hour
