Panel Technician

Builds, wires, tests, and documents industrial electrical control panels according to schematics, assembly drawings, and applicable safety requirements.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

• 2+ years of experience in electrical panel assembly, control panel wiring, or industrial electrical work.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.

• Experience with wire stripping, crimping, soldering, and wire termination.

• Familiarity with relays, terminal blocks, circuit breakers, transformers, and other standard electrical components.

• Experience using hand tools, wire strippers, crimpers, soldering equipment, multimeters, and other electrical test equipment.

• Knowledge of basic electrical safety requirements.

• Understanding of applicable OSHA safety requirements.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to stand and work at a bench for extended periods.

Preferred Skills

• Technical certification in Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.

• Experience assembling PLC control panels.

• Experience constructing industrial control cabinets.

• Knowledge of industrial automation and control systems.

• Familiarity with Siemens S7 panel configurations.

• Familiarity with Allen-Bradley CompactLogix or ControlLogix panel configurations.

• Experience with motor control centers.

• Experience with power distribution systems.

• Electrical apprenticeship or journeyman-level training.

• Experience with wire labeling and traceability systems.

• Experience troubleshooting wiring errors with multimeters and continuity testers.

• Knowledge of National Electrical Code requirements.

• Experience with CAD or electrical schematic software.

Job Responsibilities

• Build electrical control panels according to electrical schematics and assembly drawings.

• Mount and secure PLCs, relays, terminal blocks, drives, circuit breakers, transformers, and related electrical components.

• Route, strip, terminate, crimp, and label wiring according to documented requirements.

• Perform soldering operations when required.

• Install brackets, DIN rail, wire duct, and other mechanical panel components.

• Verify component placement and wiring against electrical schematics.

• Perform continuity testing and basic electrical panel testing.

• Troubleshoot and correct wiring errors.

• Inspect completed panels for workmanship and compliance with applicable specifications.

• Maintain wire identification, labeling, and traceability requirements.

• Complete production, inspection, and test documentation.

• Support quality assurance activities for completed control panels.

• Follow applicable electrical, OSHA, and manufacturing safety requirements.

Pay: 20-27/hr

Pay Details: $20.00 to $27.00 per hour
