Leads the design, integration, digital definition, and certification support of aircraft hydraulic, brake control, and steering control systems.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of industry experience in aircraft mechanical systems or a closely related field.
  • Experience designing and developing aircraft hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment used in modern Part 23 or Part 25 business aircraft.
  • Experience with Brake-By-Wire systems.
  • Experience with Steer-By-Wire systems.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic system architecture and components.
  • Knowledge of FAR Part 23 certification requirements and processes applicable to mechanical systems.
  • Experience with ASME Y14.100 engineering drawing standards.
  • Experience applying ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with 3D CAD system design and airframe integration.
  • Experience developing production-level parts, assemblies, installations, and digital product definitions.

Preferred Skills

  • CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) experience.
  • Experience with aircraft landing gear systems.
  • Experience with aircraft flight control systems.
  • Experience with ATA 32 requirements.
  • Experience developing Zonal Reference Models (ZRM).
  • Experience developing Interface Control Models (ICM).
  • Experience developing Interface Control Drawings (ICD).
  • Experience performing system architecture trade studies involving performance, weight, cost, manufacturability, and functionality.
  • Experience coordinating technical development activities with aerospace suppliers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own the design, development, and detailed definition of aircraft hydraulic systems.
  • Ensure hydraulic system designs meet technical, performance, regulatory, and certification requirements.
  • Perform trade studies to optimize system architecture, functionality, weight, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Coordinate supplier development activities for hydraulic, brake and steering control, landing gear, and flight control systems.
  • Serve as the primary design point of contact for hydraulic, brake control, and steering control systems.
  • Develop and validate mechanical and electrical interfaces with structures, electrical, avionics, certification, manufacturing, and supply chain functions.
  • Develop and maintain Zonal Reference Models, Interface Control Models, and Interface Control Drawings.
  • Create experimental and production-level digital product definitions for parts, assemblies, and installations.
  • Define dimensions, materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerances for mechanical system components.
  • Develop detailed system layouts and airframe integration studies using CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE.
  • Support certification activities for hydraulic, brake control, and steering control systems under applicable FAR Part 23 and ATA 32 requirements.
  • Provide technical oversight for junior engineers and designers.
  • Establish modeling, interface control, certification, and supplier coordination practices for mechanical system development.


Pay Details: $40.00 to $60.00 per hour
