Development Manager
Leads medical device product development, engineering teams, NPD/NPI execution, manufacturing process development, and technical improvement initiatives.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related science field.
- 5+ years of experience in a new product development environment.
- Medical device industry experience.
- Experience managing an engineering team.
- Experience with material science involving polymers and metals used in medical device applications.
- Experience leading NPD and NPI projects.
- Proficiency with computer-aided design and engineering tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience creating controlled engineering and manufacturing documentation.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of cGMP requirements.
- Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving.
- Experience developing or refining manufacturing requirements and methods.
- Experience evaluating equipment and automation for manufacturing process improvements.
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.
- Master’s degree or PhD in an engineering or related technical field.
- Experience with contract product development and customer-driven design programs.
- Experience with medical device design verification and testing.
- Experience developing engineering and manufacturing metrics for senior leadership.
- Experience with pricing principles, pricing models, and pricing systems.
- Experience supporting strategic planning for engineering or manufacturing organizations.
- Experience improving manufacturing capability, productivity, safety, and quality.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee medical device product development activities, including contract development, customer designs, internal product development, and testing.
- Prioritize engineering projects and allocate resources across development programs.
- Lead technical reviews and recurring development project meetings.
- Manage utilization of engineering personnel, equipment, and facilities.
- Assign engineering tasks and review technical results.
- Develop, monitor, and report project and engineering performance metrics.
- Lead NPD and NPI projects through defined milestones and deadlines.
- Coordinate project execution with project management and other technical functions.
- Monitor and document development project status.
- Create and maintain controlled engineering and manufacturing documentation.
- Develop and refine manufacturing requirements, methods, and processes.
- Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving activities for development projects.
- Evaluate manufacturing equipment and automation and recommend improvements in capability, productivity, and quality.
- Provide technical support for manufacturing safety, quality, productivity, and financial performance.
- Train engineering and manufacturing personnel on manufacturing processes, Lean principles, and cGMP requirements.
- Provide technical input to organizational strategic planning.
- Review and improve engineering processes, product development methods, and manufacturing execution practices.
Pay Details: $130,000.00 to $150,000.00 per year
