Construction Project Engineer
Provides project engineering, contract administration, quality assurance, and construction oversight for assigned construction projects.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- 5+ years of construction engineering experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience performing project engineering duties comparable to the position requirements.
- Experience with construction contract administration.
- Experience reviewing construction plans, specifications, schedules, and technical submittals.
- Experience supporting contract modifications, Requests for Proposals, and cost estimates.
- Experience with construction quality assurance and safety requirements.
- Experience monitoring construction progress, contractor performance, and schedule compliance.
- Experience preparing technical correspondence, RFIs, payment estimates, and project documentation.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Resident Management System (RMS) or similar construction management software.
- Experience developing and implementing Quality Assurance Plans.
- Experience reviewing contractor quality control, environmental, and safety programs.
- Experience with contractor claims, disputes, and change management.
- Experience preparing government or independent cost estimates.
- Experience supporting public-sector or government construction contracts.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as Project Engineer for assigned construction contracts.
- Perform routine project engineering and contract administration activities.
- Participate in all phases of the contract modification process.
- Prepare scopes of work for Requests for Proposals.
- Assist with preparation of project and construction cost estimates.
- Review contractor proposals associated with contract modifications.
- Coordinate project activities with customer representatives, project managers, and cost-sharing partners.
- Arrange and conduct pre-work and construction coordination meetings.
- Develop Quality Assurance Plans and verify implementation in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Support onsite Quality Assurance Representatives with construction quality, safety, and coordination activities.
- Inspect contractor work for compliance with plans, specifications, contract requirements, and construction standards.
- Monitor construction progress and identify potential schedule delays or milestone impacts.
- Maintain project status, milestone, and issue information within applicable construction management systems.
- Review contractor schedules, shop drawings, certifications, environmental plans, safety plans, quality control programs, and technical submittals.
- Prepare correspondence regarding contractor performance, RFIs, and technical construction issues.
- Review contractor requests related to disputes and claims and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Prepare partial and final payment estimates.
- Measure and calculate pay-item quantities, verify materials on hand, and determine percentage completion of lump-sum work.
- Report potential construction delays, quality issues, and contract compliance concerns to project leadership.
Pay Details: $35.00 to $46.00 per hour
