Performs construction surveillance, compliance inspection, quality assurance review, and documentation in support of government construction oversight activities.

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in construction surveillance, inspection, quality assurance, or related construction oversight.

  • Experience reviewing construction work for compliance with plans, specifications, materials, workmanship, installation requirements, and construction methods.

  • Experience preparing construction surveillance and inspection reports.

  • Experience reviewing contract plans and technical specifications.

  • Experience supporting change orders and construction modifications.

  • Experience developing or coordinating inspection requirements and control methods.

  • Experience in at least one specialized construction inspection area, such as:

    • Medical gas systems and NFPA 99.

    • Life safety systems and NFPA 101.

    • Electrical systems and NFPA 70/National Electrical Code.

    • Plumbing systems and International Plumbing Code.

    • Fire protection and alarm systems, including NFPA 13 and NFPA 72.

    • HVAC testing, adjusting, and balancing using ASHRAE, AABC, or NEBB standards.

    • Building commissioning.

    • Communications, IT, nurse call, security, IDS/PACS, or ICD 705 systems.

    • Biomedical equipment, including CT, PET, CATH, MRI, or related systems.

    • Patient lifts, elevators, pneumatic tube systems, sterilizers, laboratory equipment, or other specialty equipment.

    • Dredging.

    • Welding inspection.

    • Painting and metalizing inspection.

    • Environmental HAZWOPER, site sampling, 40-hour HTRW, and current 8-hour refresher training.

    • Airfield paving and concrete inspection.

Preferred Skills

  • USACE construction project experience.

  • Federal construction inspection experience.

  • Construction quality assurance experience.

  • Experience supporting Contracting Officer’s Representatives.

  • Experience preparing technical recommendations for construction changes.

  • Experience resolving discrepancies between field conditions, plans, and specifications.

  • Multi-discipline construction inspection experience.

  • Experience documenting deficiencies, changed conditions, and corrective recommendations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform surveillance and inspection of active construction projects.

  • Review construction activities for compliance with contract plans and specifications.

  • Monitor workmanship, materials, installation methods, and construction methods.

  • Prepare surveillance reports covering applicable phases of construction.

  • Document construction findings, deficiencies, and changed conditions.

  • Review quality assurance programs associated with assigned projects.

  • Review contract drawings, plans, and specifications throughout construction.

  • Identify discrepancies between field conditions and contract requirements.

  • Develop technical recommendations for construction changes.

  • Support investigations related to change order requirements.

  • Prepare supporting data and documentation for construction change orders.

  • Draft change orders and contract modifications for review.

  • Develop detailed inspection requirements and control methods.

  • Provide technical construction findings and recommendations to government oversight personnel.

Pay: 33-45

Pay Details: $33.00 to $45.00 per hour
