Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
  • 5–8 years of instrumentation and control systems engineering experience.
  • Experience developing instrumentation and controls engineering deliverables.
  • Experience specifying process instrumentation and actuated valves.
  • Experience developing control narratives, specifications, and data sheets.
  • Experience reviewing vendor submittals and technical bid packages.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Bluebeam.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience producing installation details, electrical room layouts, cable schedules, control panel layouts, loop diagrams, and instrumentation plans.
  • Experience sizing control valves using vendor software.
  • Experience developing and reviewing P&IDs for instrumentation and control requirements.
  • Experience preparing equipment and material procurement packages.
  • Experience evaluating instrumentation and controls vendor bids.

Job Responsibilities

  • Produce instrumentation and controls installation details.
  • Develop electrical room layouts, cable schedules, control panel layouts, loop diagrams, and instrumentation plans.
  • Develop control narratives.
  • Specify process instrumentation.
  • Size control valves using appropriate vendor software.
  • Develop specifications and data sheets for instrumentation, analyzers, control systems, and actuated valves.
  • Review vendor submittals for instrumentation and controls requirements.
  • Review engineering drawings and documents from other disciplines for instrumentation and controls input.
  • Evaluate vendor bid submittals.
  • Develop scopes, drawings, and specifications for equipment and material procurement packages.
  • Contribute instrumentation and controls requirements to P&ID development.
  • Coordinate instrumentation and controls engineering information with other engineering disciplines.


Pay Details: $56.00 to $75.00 per hour
