Mechanical Designer III
Develop 3D CAD models, detailed component designs, and aircraft structural assemblies for aviation and aerospace applications.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of eight years of design experience in the aviation industry
- Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks
- Experience using AutoCAD
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
- Experience creating 3D CAD models for components, systems, and assemblies
- Experience performing tolerance stack-up analysis
- Experience calculating or evaluating mass properties
- Knowledge of design for manufacturability, reliability, and maintainability
- Experience working to MIL-SPEC requirements
- Experience working to FAA requirements
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality requirements
- Ability to work outdoors and on top of aircraft
- Ability to travel within and outside the continental United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, the United Kingdom, and Europe
Preferred Skills
- Experience designing aviation structural assemblies
- Aerospace engineering design experience in military aviation
- Aerospace engineering design experience in civil aviation
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of test instrumentation
- Airframe and Powerplant certification
- CNC programming experience
Job Responsibilities
- Create virtual solid models for new products, design modifications, and upgrades
- Develop detailed component, system, and full-assembly designs
- Create 3D CAD models for aircraft and aerospace components
- Generate tolerance stack-up analyses for component and assembly designs
- Evaluate mass properties to support proper fit and function
- Develop design documentation, requirements, specifications, and schedules
- Apply manufacturability, reliability, and maintainability requirements to designs
- Apply MIL-SPEC, FAA, and applicable commercial design practices
- Support aviation structural assembly design activities
- Participate in multidisciplinary engineering and design reviews
- Represent mechanical design requirements during integrated project activities
- Maintain design documentation in accordance with AS9100 and applicable quality requirements
- Support aircraft-based design validation and field activities
- Provide project status and technical design information to engineering and management
Pay Details: $33.00 to $45.00 per hour
