Soldering Technician

Performs advanced electronic assembly, precision soldering, rework, inspection, and first-article production for regulated defense-related hardware.

Job Requirements

• U.S. citizenship

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance

• High school diploma with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or associate degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience

• Advanced hand-soldering experience

• Extensive rework and reflow soldering experience

• Experience with through-hole and surface-mount soldering

• Experience assembling small electronic components, including 0201 components and integrated circuits

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, assembly instructions, process-flow instructions, drawings, and specifications

• Experience operating soldering irons, hot-air tools, hot plates, microscopes, and soldering stations

• Experience performing in-process, final, and source inspections

• Experience completing mechanical, harness, cable, printed circuit board, and subassembly operations

• Ability to build first-article assemblies directly from drawings and specifications when no established process is available

Preferred Skills

• Active Department of Defense Secret security clearance

• Current industry-recognized soldering certification

• IPC J-STD-001 certification

• IPC-A-610 certification

• IPC-7711/7721 rework and repair certification

• Experience participating in Lean manufacturing events

• Experience with 6S workplace organization practices

• Experience applying conformal coating or spray applications

• Experience supporting engineering prototype and first-article builds

Job Responsibilities

• Assemble and solder electronic components onto printed circuit boards

• Perform through-hole, surface-mount, rework, and reflow soldering

• Install 0201 components, integrated circuits, and other miniature electronic parts

• Operate soldering irons, hot-air guns, hot plates, microscopes, and soldering stations

• Inspect and maintain soldering tools and equipment

• Read and follow assembly instructions, schematics, blueprints, drawings, and process-flow documentation

• Perform component preparation and mechanical assembly

• Fabricate and assemble wire harnesses and cable assemblies

• Complete printed circuit board subassemblies and related electronic assemblies

• Apply spray coatings or related production materials according to specifications

• Perform in-process, final, and source inspections

• Verify solder joints, component placement, workmanship, and assembly conformance

• Support engineering with first-article and prototype builds

• Interpret drawings and specifications to develop assembly methods when formal processes are unavailable

• Complete training across all required assembly stages

• Identify and correct soldering, rework, assembly, and workmanship defects

• Maintain production, inspection, and traceability documentation

• Participate in Lean manufacturing and 6S activities

• Follow applicable quality, safety, security, and controlled-manufacturing procedures

Pay: 30-33/hr

Pay Details: $30.00 to $33.00 per hour
