Electrical Life Safety Systems Designer
Designs and coordinates fire alarm and life-safety systems using Revit, AutoCAD, and applicable building, electrical, and fire-protection codes.
Job Requirements
- Four or more years of Autodesk Revit design experience
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- Experience using Revit add-ins
- Experience with Bluebeam Revu
- Experience performing clash detection and resolving coordination issues in Autodesk Construction Cloud or Forma
- Fire alarm system design experience
- Knowledge of fire alarm equipment and manufacturer-specific system components
- Experience designing Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus systems
- Knowledge of general design and construction specifications
- Ability to create and revise technical drawings, models, schedules, and design documentation
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Knowledge of the International Building Code
- Knowledge of the International Fire Code
- Knowledge of NFPA 101, Life Safety Code
- Knowledge of NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code
- Knowledge of NFPA 70, National Electrical Code
- Knowledge of NFPA 75
- Knowledge of NFPA 76
- Knowledge of NFPA 2001
- Knowledge of NFPA 13
- Experience applying electrical design requirements to fire alarm and life-safety systems
- Experience with VESDA ASPIRE or similar system-design software
- Fire alarm and life-safety design experience for data centers
Job Responsibilities
- Design fire alarm, detection, notification, and life-safety systems
- Develop Revit models, AutoCAD drawings, equipment layouts, riser diagrams, and system details
- Design VESDA and air-sampling smoke-detection systems
- Select fire alarm devices, control equipment, interfaces, and related system components
- Perform clash detection and resolve model-coordination issues
- Coordinate fire alarm designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire-protection systems
- Review design and construction specifications
- Apply applicable building, fire, life-safety, and electrical codes to system designs
- Develop device schedules, calculations, design narratives, and construction documentation
- Review drawings and models for code compliance, constructability, and dimensional accuracy
- Incorporate design revisions and resolve technical comments
- Use Bluebeam Revu to review, mark up, and coordinate design documents
- Support fire alarm design activities for data centers and other complex facilities
Pay Details: $40.00 to $54.00 per hour
