Capital Project Manager

Plan and execute industrial capital projects from concept through commissioning and closeout while controlling scope, cost, schedule, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field
• 5–8 years of experience managing capital projects in industrial, manufacturing, mining, chemical, fertilizer, or related environments
• Experience managing projects through initiation, planning, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout
• Knowledge of construction and repair practices involving industrial structural steel infrastructure
• Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, schedules, contractors, and resource plans
• Experience with capital authorization processes, cost controls, and project reporting
• Knowledge of project management principles, construction execution, and risk management
• Knowledge of industrial safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
• Experience supporting commissioning, startup, and operational turnover activities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Primavera, SAP, or comparable project management and scheduling systems
• Ability to work in office, plant, and active construction environments
• Ability to work extended hours during shutdowns, turnarounds, and critical project phases
• Ability to travel to project sites, vendor locations, and contractor meetings as required

Preferred Skills

• Experience managing projects in brownfield industrial facilities
• Experience supporting large-site industrial operations
• Mechanical Engineering or Civil/Structural Engineering background
• Experience with procurement and contract administration
• Experience preparing bid packages and evaluating contractor proposals
• Experience managing vendor and contractor performance
• Knowledge of structural steel repair and infrastructure improvement projects
• Experience with project change control and cost impact analysis
• Experience managing shutdown or turnaround projects
• Knowledge of industrial asset reliability and operational readiness requirements

Job Responsibilities

• Lead capital projects from concept development through final closeout
• Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, risks, and success criteria
• Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and resource plans
• Apply established project management standards and software throughout the project lifecycle
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance, and operational readiness activities
• Prepare bid packages and support contractor and vendor selection
• Manage contractors, consultants, suppliers, and construction activities
• Oversee contractor safety, field execution, and compliance with site requirements
• Monitor project progress, costs, schedule performance, and resource utilization
• Evaluate and manage scope changes, delays, risks, and cost impacts
• Maintain project cost controls, authorization documentation, and financial reporting
• Review construction plans, technical documents, contractor submittals, and project specifications
• Coordinate safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance activities
• Lead project status meetings and prepare progress reports
• Maintain project records, contracts, schedules, cost data, and closeout documentation
• Coordinate commissioning, startup, testing, turnover, and operational acceptance
• Support change management activities associated with new equipment and processes
• Complete project closeout, financial reconciliation, and lessons-learned documentation
• Identify improvements to capital project planning and execution processes

Pay Details: $40.00 to $54.00 per hour
