Designs, develops, integrates, and tests embedded software for autonomous vehicles, active safety systems, advanced driver-assistance systems, and unmanned ground vehicle platforms.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science with at least five years of related experience, or a master’s degree with at least two years of related experience
  • Minimum of five years of embedded controller programming experience using C, C++, Structured Text, or comparable PLC languages
  • Minimum of five years of software testing experience
  • Experience developing real-time embedded control software
  • Experience developing networked vehicle communications using CAN bus, Ethernet, or vehicle-to-vehicle protocols
  • Experience with version control, software release management, and peer-review processes
  • Knowledge of software safety and system safety standards, including MIL-STD-882E, ISO 26262, or IEC 61508
  • Experience developing software requirements, system architectures, and verification test plans
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% to 20%
  • United States citizenship or dual citizenship

Preferred Skills

  • Vehicle control system software development experience
  • Autonomous or self-driving vehicle system experience
  • Active safety or advanced driver-assistance system experience
  • Experience integrating driver-warning and driver-assistance systems
  • Sensor integration experience involving radar, LiDAR, cameras, or computer vision
  • UNIX or Linux programming experience
  • SysML system modeling and architecture documentation experience
  • Agile software development experience
  • CMMI Level 3 development-process experience
  • Experience with unmanned ground vehicle control systems
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
  • Experience managing the development of multiple embedded systems

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded software for autonomous vehicles, active safety systems, driver-assistance systems, and unmanned ground vehicles
  • Develop real-time control algorithms, vehicle interfaces, sensor-processing algorithms, graphical user interfaces, and communication networks
  • Define detailed software and system requirements
  • Develop system architectures for embedded electronic systems
  • Design and peer-review embedded software
  • Develop comprehensive verification and validation test plans
  • Conduct software and system testing in simulation and real-world environments
  • Support testing at off-site facilities when required
  • Evaluate software and electronic system designs for performance, safety, and reliability
  • Integrate CAN bus, Ethernet, vehicle-to-vehicle, and related communication networks
  • Support the integration of radar, LiDAR, camera, and computer-vision systems
  • Process engineering documentation through applicable CMMI and software-safety procedures
  • Investigate and resolve embedded software, controls, communications, and integration issues
  • Manage the development of embedded systems of moderate complexity
  • Coordinate technical activities with suppliers, customers, engineering teams, and external resources
  • Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, design documentation, and presentations
  • Maintain software configuration, release, test, and peer-review records
  • Verify compliance with engineering procedures, safety standards, and technical requirements


Pay Details: $60.00 to $68.00 per hour
