Develops, coordinates, and reviews structural system designs, models, drawings, and construction documentation using Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.

Job Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of structural design principles and discipline requirements
  • Working knowledge of applicable structural codes, standards, and industry practices
  • Extensive structural modeling and drafting experience using Revit and AutoCAD
  • Extensive model and document review experience using Navisworks and Bluebeam
  • Experience serving as an area lead or system lead designer
  • Experience developing structural designs across multiple project phases
  • Ability to evaluate technical design options and document the advantages and limitations of each approach
  • Ability to assess project scope, schedule, and budget impacts
  • Experience identifying and documenting changes in project scope
  • Ability to break projects into individual tasks and develop labor-hour estimates
  • Knowledge of multidisciplinary design coordination
  • Experience reviewing and processing construction submittals
  • Experience conducting field surveys of existing conditions

Preferred Skills

  • Experience coordinating structural designs with architectural, mechanical, electrical, piping, and other engineering disciplines
  • Experience preparing structural models, plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and details
  • Experience developing design and construction documents
  • Experience reviewing project specifications and providing structural specification input

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop layouts and designs for structural systems
  • Evaluate structural design approaches and propose technical solutions
  • Prepare models, plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and construction details
  • Produce deliverables for proposals, design reviews, meetings, and construction documents
  • Review project specifications and incorporate applicable requirements into structural designs
  • Provide structural input and comments for project specifications
  • Coordinate structural designs and deliverables with other project disciplines
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts, model conflicts, and existing field-condition issues
  • Perform field surveys to document existing structural conditions
  • Review and respond to design coordination requests and technical information requests
  • Develop task breakdowns and labor estimates for assigned work
  • Monitor assigned work for scope, schedule, and budget impacts
  • Identify potential scope changes and escalate them to project leadership
  • Review and process submittal documents
  • Serve as an area or system lead designer when assigned
  • Provide technical guidance and design reviews for junior staff


Pay Details: $24.00 to $33.00 per hour
