Job Requirements

  • Two-year technical degree or four-year non-technical degree
  • Minimum of 4 years of telecommunications design and construction experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of telecommunications design experience in semiconductor or data center environments
  • Knowledge of Telecommunications Industry Association standards
  • Knowledge of BICSI design practices
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70 and applicable electrical design requirements
  • Experience leading telecommunications design teams
  • Experience reviewing and applying design and construction specifications
  • Experience estimating and scheduling small to medium-sized projects
  • Project management experience
  • Working knowledge of Revit or comparable 3D BIM software
  • Experience designing telecommunications backbone and distribution systems
  • Experience developing communication room layouts, rack elevations, device plans, and cable schedules

Preferred Skills

  • Associate degree in telecommunications, engineering technology, drafting, or a related field
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer certification
  • Data Center Design Consultant certification
  • Outside Plant certification
  • Registered Telecommunications Project Manager certification
  • Experience with paging, intercom, and audio-visual systems
  • Knowledge of control systems and network topology
  • Experience with wired and wireless telecommunications infrastructure
  • Experience coordinating telecommunications designs across architectural, electrical, mechanical, structural, and security disciplines
  • Experience producing design packages for highly complex facilities

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead telecommunications design scopes for large and complex projects
  • Coordinate work performed by telecommunications designers and supporting design staff
  • Develop outside plant telecommunications designs
  • Design inter-building and intra-building backbone distribution systems
  • Develop communication room layouts
  • Create rack elevations and equipment layouts
  • Produce wired and wireless device plans
  • Develop telecommunications cable schedules
  • Apply TIA, BICSI, NFPA 70, and project-specific design requirements
  • Review project specifications, design criteria, and construction documents
  • Estimate design effort, staffing requirements, and project schedules
  • Track telecommunications design progress and deliverables
  • Coordinate telecommunications requirements with other engineering and design disciplines
  • Review drawings, models, schedules, and technical documentation
  • Resolve design conflicts and telecommunications routing issues
  • Support project meetings, design reviews, and construction coordination
  • Maintain design records, revisions, and project documentation
  • Verify completed design packages meet scope, schedule, quality, and code requirements


Pay Details: $30.00 to $40.00 per hour
