EE Board Design Engineer
Develops high-reliability board-level electrical hardware for advanced targeting, mission-system, aerospace, and defense applications.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 8 years of electronic design and hardware-development experience
- Experience designing board-level electrical hardware
- Experience with schematic capture and electronic component selection
- Experience designing high-speed digital, analog, mixed-signal, and power circuits
- Experience integrating processors, sensors, and supporting electronics
- Experience with high-speed interfaces operating at 5–10 Gbps
- Experience with FPGA electrical integration and power distribution
- Experience performing printed circuit board assembly bring-up, debugging, validation, and troubleshooting
- Experience developing hardware test plans and validation procedures
- Experience conducting electrical analysis, modeling, and simulation
- Proficiency with schematic capture tools such as Mentor Graphics Xpedition
- Experience with circuit analysis and simulation tools such as LTspice
- Knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, and electronic-system efficiency
- Experience supporting design for manufacturability and design for testability
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
- Ability to complete required electrostatic discharge and safety training
Preferred Skills
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, or a related discipline
- Aerospace or defense hardware-development experience
- Knowledge of MIL-STD requirements
- Familiarity with DO-254 development practices
- Experience designing size, weight, and power-constrained systems
- Experience with targeting, sensing, avionics, or mission-system electronics
- Experience supporting prototype and early-production hardware builds
- Experience transitioning electronic designs into manufacturing
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management and enterprise resource planning systems
- Experience coordinating PCB layout for high-speed and mixed-signal designs
- Experience guiding junior electrical engineers
- Experience with subsystem architecture and technical trade studies
Job Responsibilities
- Design and develop board-level electrical hardware
- Create schematics and select electronic components
- Design digital, analog, mixed-signal, and power interfaces
- Integrate processors, sensors, high-speed interfaces, and supporting electronics
- Develop FPGA electrical interfaces and power-distribution approaches
- Coordinate PCB layout activities with layout engineers
- Review layouts for signal integrity, power integrity, manufacturability, and requirements compliance
- Perform board bring-up, laboratory testing, electrical debugging, and validation
- Diagnose and resolve hardware failures during prototype and early-production builds
- Develop test plans, validation procedures, and troubleshooting methods
- Design electrical systems for size, weight, and power constraints
- Perform power analysis and improve electrical efficiency
- Conduct circuit modeling, simulation, and technical risk analysis
- Coordinate electrical interfaces with mechanical, systems, and embedded software teams
- Support subsystem integration and system-level verification
- Participate in architecture reviews, design reviews, and trade studies
- Provide technical input for subsystem and system architecture decisions
- Support design-for-manufacturability and design-for-testability activities
- Prepare hardware designs for manufacturing release
- Review prototype builds and resolve production-related electrical issues
- Maintain electrical design files, calculations, test records, and technical documentation
- Verify board designs meet performance, reliability, manufacturing, and program requirements
- Provide technical guidance and design-review support to junior engineers
- Coordinate technical activities with senior engineering personnel
Pay Details: $49.00 to $65.00 per hour
