Sr Electrical Design Engineer
Designs, analyzes, tests, and documents space-qualified analog, digital, and power electronics hardware for spacecraft power and avionics systems.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
Minimum of 5 years of electronic circuit design experience
Experience designing analog and digital circuits
Experience designing DC/DC converters, switching regulators, and power-switching circuits
Experience with isolated and non-isolated switched-mode power supplies
Experience with common-mode and differential-mode power filtering
Experience designing active filters, amplifiers, op-amp circuits, and comparator circuits
Experience with high-side FET drivers using monolithic or discrete solutions
Experience with GaN FETs or comparable high-efficiency semiconductor devices
Experience with load switches and power-conditioning circuits
Experience creating schematics with OrCAD X or comparable ECAD tools
Experience coordinating PCB layout and design reviews with layout engineers
Experience using SPICE-based simulation tools
Experience performing worst-case, stability, load-regulation, and thermal analyses
Experience supporting board bring-up, hardware validation, and troubleshooting
Experience integrating electronic hardware with FPGA, microcontroller, or microprocessor-based interfaces
Ability to travel up to 10%
Preferred Skills
Master’s degree in electrical engineering
Minimum of 8 years of power electronics design experience
Experience developing power electronics boards for space-based electrical power systems
Experience designing space-qualified or high-reliability electronic hardware
Proficiency with OrCAD X, Allegro X, and Altium Designer
Proficiency with PSpice, LTspice, or comparable circuit simulation tools
Knowledge of spacecraft electrical power system architectures
Knowledge of EMI and EMC design practices
Knowledge of grounding, shielding, and signal-segregation methods
Experience selecting components based on radiation tolerance, derating, reliability, and parts-stress requirements
Experience with transient, steady-state, and power-integrity analysis
Experience conducting unit-level and subsystem-level hardware verification
Experience performing root-cause corrective action investigations
Experience leading electronics design activities throughout the product lifecycle
Experience preparing customer design reviews and technical data packages
Job Responsibilities
Design space-qualified power electronics hardware
Develop high-efficiency DC/DC converters and switching regulators
Design power-switching and conditioning circuits using GaN FETs and related semiconductor technologies
Design analog, digital, filtering, amplifier, and control-interface circuits
Develop isolated and non-isolated switched-mode power supplies
Design common-mode and differential-mode filtering circuits
Develop high-side gate-drive and load-switching solutions
Perform worst-case circuit analysis
Evaluate loop stability, load regulation, transient response, and thermal performance
Perform SPICE-based transient and steady-state simulations
Create schematics and electrical design documentation using OrCAD X
Coordinate PCB layout activities with layout engineers
Review PCB layouts for power integrity, signal integrity, EMI/EMC, grounding, and manufacturability
Select components for space environments based on electrical performance, derating, radiation tolerance, and reliability
Perform parts-stress and component-reliability analyses
Generate design descriptions, analysis reports, calculations, and review packages
Support internal and customer architecture and design reviews
Conduct board bring-up and hardware validation testing
Develop and execute hardware test procedures
Troubleshoot circuit, power, thermal, signal, and interface anomalies
Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions
Support integration with spacecraft electrical power and avionics subsystems
Coordinate electrical interfaces with systems, manufacturing, software, and test engineering teams
Support unit-level and subsystem-level verification activities
Verify hardware meets mission, performance, environmental, and reliability requirements
Support design maturation, production readiness, and manufacturing transition
Maintain schematics, PCB records, analyses, test data, and configuration documentation
Pay: 75-95/hr

Pay Details: $75.00 to $95.00 per hour
