EHS Specialist
Summary: Leads environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance programs across manufacturing facilities in the United States.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3–5 years of environmental, health, and safety experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience leading or maintaining EHS programs aligned with OSHA and EPA requirements
- Knowledge of occupational safety, environmental regulations, and regulatory compliance
- Experience managing workers’ compensation cases, return-to-work programs, and light-duty assignments
- Knowledge of chemical safety, Safety Data Sheets, and industrial hygiene principles
- Experience handling, labeling, storing, and documenting hazardous waste
- Experience performing EHS inspections, compliance audits, and corrective-action follow-up
- Experience conducting environmental monitoring, including wastewater sampling
- Experience developing and delivering employee safety training
- Ability to climb ladders and perform inspections throughout manufacturing areas
- Availability to work any shift, overtime, and adjusted schedules as required
- Ability to travel between facilities as necessary
- Ability to complete required job-related medical, vision, hearing, and color assessments
Preferred Skills
- Current Resource Conservation and Recovery Act certification
- Current Department of Transportation hazardous materials certification
- Current OSHA certification
- Auditor certification
- Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations in the United States and European Union
- Experience coordinating EHS compliance across multiple facilities
- Experience implementing safety improvements that reduce incident rates
- Experience restoring deficient EHS programs or maintaining established high-performing safety programs
- Experience tracking and reporting measurable EHS performance indicators
- Experience with emissions monitoring and equipment-performance monitoring systems
Job Responsibilities
- Lead environmental, occupational health, and safety programs across U.S. manufacturing locations
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, plans, and compliance systems
- Coordinate EHS activities across multiple facilities
- Conduct scheduled and unannounced EHS and regulatory compliance inspections
- Verify compliance with OSHA, EPA, hazardous waste, transportation, and other applicable regulations
- Identify regulatory deficiencies and manage corrective and preventive actions
- Develop monitoring systems for emissions, environmental conditions, and equipment performance
- Perform or coordinate wastewater sampling and other environmental monitoring activities
- Manage hazardous waste handling, labeling, storage, documentation, and disposal requirements
- Maintain chemical inventories, Safety Data Sheets, and chemical-hazard documentation
- Evaluate industrial hygiene hazards and coordinate exposure-control measures
- Manage workers’ compensation cases and related return-to-work and light-duty programs
- Analyze incidents, injuries, near misses, audit findings, and compliance metrics
- Develop and implement safety improvements based on inspection and performance data
- Track EHS metrics, trends, corrective actions, and regulatory reporting requirements
- Coordinate and deliver required environmental, health, safety, and regulatory training
- Support safety and facility orientation activities for new employees
- Conduct plant-floor observations and equipment safety inspections
- Maintain EHS permits, certifications, inspection records, training records, and compliance documentation
- Support regulatory agency inspections and required reporting
- Coordinate environmental and safety audits across manufacturing locations
- Verify completion and effectiveness of corrective actions
Pay Details: $85,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year
