Process Engineer

Summary: Designs complex mechanical facility systems for industrial manufacturing environments, including HVAC, hydronics, process piping, exhaust, plumbing, and equipment-support infrastructure.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited university
• Minimum of 10 years of mechanical facilities design engineering experience
• Minimum of 5 years of design project delivery experience
• Minimum of 5 years of facility engineering experience
• Engineer-in-Training certification or Professional Engineer licensure
• Experience designing HVAC, hydronic, process piping, exhaust, plumbing, and related mechanical facility systems
• Knowledge of ASME requirements, ASME B31.3, building codes, fire codes, ASHRAE standards, and related regulations
• Experience specifying and selecting mechanical equipment, components, piping, and ductwork
• Experience reviewing vendor submittal packages against project specifications and requirements
• Field experience supporting subcontractors and construction personnel
• Working knowledge of P&IDs, process flow diagrams, equipment plans, layouts, and construction details
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM 360, or comparable design software
• Experience performing mechanical engineering calculations and equipment sizing
• Experience supporting retrofit projects involving existing building and utility systems

Preferred Skills

• Professional Engineer licensure
• Experience designing mechanical systems for complex industrial or advanced manufacturing facilities
• Experience with process chemical and gas distribution systems
• Experience conducting HAZOP reviews and code assessments
• Experience developing construction documents for manufacturing tools and facility infrastructure
• Experience supporting construction, equipment installation, commissioning, and factory integration
• Experience evaluating cost, schedule, and scope impacts for mechanical design alternatives
• Experience coordinating mechanical designs across multiple engineering disciplines

Job Responsibilities

• Develop project scopes, design requirements, technical specifications, and engineering standards
• Produce construction documents for complex manufacturing tools and mechanical facility infrastructure
• Design HVAC, hydronic, process piping, exhaust, plumbing, chemical, and gas systems
• Perform code assessments and interpret applicable mechanical, building, and fire-code requirements
• Participate in HAZOP and engineering risk reviews
• Develop piping and ductwork designs for equipment heating, cooling, ventilation, exhaust, and process utilities
• Evaluate existing site systems for upgrades, expansions, and equipment installations
• Perform engineering calculations for flow, pressure, load, capacity, and system performance
• Size and select mechanical equipment, components, piping, valves, and ductwork
• Prepare and review P&IDs, process flow diagrams, layouts, equipment plans, and construction details
• Review vendor drawings, equipment data, and submittal packages for compliance with project requirements
• Develop retrofit designs for existing mechanical and building systems
• Generate technical design alternatives based on cost, schedule, constructability, and project scope
• Coordinate mechanical requirements with engineering disciplines, construction trades, and system owners
• Lead technical stakeholder meetings to resolve design decisions and document required actions
• Provide construction-phase engineering support
• Respond to field questions and review proposed design changes
• Support equipment installation, system integration, testing, and factory startup
• Verify completed installations against construction documents, specifications, and applicable codes

Pay Details: $40.00 to $60.00 per hour
