Layout Designer
Mechanical Designer role focused on semiconductor facility layout design, 3D modeling, clash detection, and installation documentation for fab and cleanroom environments.
Job Requirements
- Associate degree in Computer Drafting and Design, similar coursework, or equivalent on-the-job experience
- Experience in building systems mechanical design for semiconductor or related high-tech facilities
- Experience with 3D modeling and clash detection tools
- Knowledge of semiconductor tool requirements and installation processes
- Familiarity with safety and regulatory standards in high-tech manufacturing
- Deep knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and related modeling and drafting programs
- Experience with precise drawing and model input
- Working knowledge of drawing and model input requirements
- Thorough understanding of drafting and modeling standards
- Ability to break assignments into required tasks, assign hours to each task, and provide work estimates
- Ability to support project schedules through drawing and model production
Preferred Skills
- Semiconductor fab or cleanroom layout experience
- Experience with tool placement, utility routing, clearance planning, and access requirements
- Experience supporting tool move-in, installation planning, and ramp-up activities
- Experience preparing models, plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and details
- Experience supporting field surveys of existing conditions
- Experience resolving design conflicts between disciplines and existing field conditions
- Knowledge of cleanroom standards, facility constraints, utilities, structural requirements, and environmental requirements
Job Responsibilities
- Develop detailed layout designs for semiconductor equipment installations in fab and cleanroom environments
- Coordinate space planning, tool placement, and workflow optimization
- Collaborate with facilities, process, equipment, and construction teams to align layout designs with operational requirements
- Ensure layouts comply with cleanroom standards, safety regulations, and facility constraints
- Produce and maintain layout drawings, 3D models, and installation documentation
- Support tool move-in, installation planning, and ramp-up activities
- Identify and resolve layout conflicts involving utility routing, clearances, and access requirements
- Contribute to layout standards and best practices
- Create and modify drawings and models from conversations, redlines, and markups
- Participate in department and project meetings
- Prepare deliverables for project phases, including models, plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and details
- Support design and architectural leads with meeting, proposal, and construction document deliverables
- Display Revit and Navisworks models during meetings
- Perform model walkthroughs during presentations and coordination meetings
- Provide status updates on drawing and model inputs
- Estimate hours required to complete assigned work
- Coordinate designs and deliverables across disciplines
- Resolve conflicts between design requirements and existing field conditions
- Assist with field surveys of existing conditions
- Respond to design, coordination, conflict resolution, and information-sharing requests
- Identify incomplete work or gaps in drawings and models before review
Pay Details: $33.00 to $45.00 per hour
