Electrical Engineer
Electrical Crane Engineer responsible for designing, supporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical systems for overhead crane equipment.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3–7 years of experience in overhead crane design, installation, or maintenance
- Knowledge of overhead crane classifications, including CMAA standards
- Experience with motor control systems for hoist, trolley, and bridge motion
- Experience with VFDs, soft starters, and motor protection systems
- Ability to read, create, and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
- Familiarity with conductor bar systems, festoon systems, pendant controls, radio remote controls, and collision avoidance systems
- Knowledge of applicable standards, including CMAA 70/74, NFPA 70, NEC, and ASME B30
- Experience supporting electrical systems for bridge cranes, gantry cranes, monorails, or workstation cranes
- Experience with electrical code compliance and crane safety requirements
Preferred Skills
- Experience with custom crane design
- Experience with crane retrofit or modernization projects
- Knowledge of load monitoring systems
- Knowledge of sway control systems
- Knowledge of crane automation technologies
- Experience with HMI interfaces, relays, and crane control systems
- Experience supporting below-the-hook devices
- Experience with crane electrical troubleshooting in field or maintenance environments
Job Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems for overhead cranes, including bridge cranes, gantry cranes, monorails, and workstation cranes
- Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts using CAD tools
- Select and specify components, including VFDs, festoon systems, conductor bars, limit switches, and safety devices
- Perform load calculations, power sizing, and control logic design for crane motion systems and below-the-hook devices
- Support installation and commissioning of new crane systems and retrofit projects
- Configure and test VFDs, soft starters, HMI interfaces, relays, and control systems
- Conduct functional testing and validate system performance against design specifications
- Diagnose electrical issues in crane control systems, including motors, panels, limit devices, and communication networks
- Support maintenance teams with troubleshooting and corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and crane specifications
- Conduct risk assessments and safety inspections related to crane electrical systems
- Maintain documentation for electrical designs, installations, and modifications
- Collaborate with mechanical engineering, project management, and field technicians on crane projects
- Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance personnel and crane operators
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve crane reliability and operational efficiency
Pay Details: $38.00 to $51.00 per hour
