Compliance Engineer
Compliance Engineer role focused on product safety, EMC compliance, certification strategy, technical file management, and regulatory standards support for scientific and industrial equipment.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
5+ years of compliance engineering experience
Experience obtaining safety certifications, including UL, cUL, and CE
Knowledge of Machinery Directive, Low Voltage Directive, and EMC Directive requirements
Knowledge of safety and EMC requirements for scientific or industrial equipment
Knowledge of North American and European compliance standards, including UL, CSA, IEC, and EN standards
Experience supporting design verification testing and safety agency testing
Experience with software, hardware, and electromagnetic compatibility testing requirements
Experience interpreting and applying national and international safety requirements
Experience with schematic capture tools
Microsoft Office proficiency
Preferred Skills
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
8–10 years of compliance engineering experience
Experience supporting complex or diverse product portfolios
Experience developing certification strategies for new and existing industrial products
Experience with technical file creation, maintenance, and agency documentation
Experience supporting risk assessment activities, including Hazard Analysis and FMEA
Experience specifying test apparatus and equipment for pre-compliance evaluations
Experience selecting new or alternate components for compliance-related requirements
Experience assessing component, equipment, or process reliability
Job Responsibilities
Manage technical files and compliance documentation for product safety and EMC certifications
Support communication with safety agencies and certification bodies
Monitor new and updated national and international standards, requirements, and regulations
Guide engineering teams through certification activities for new and existing products
Support certification work across product safety, EMC, hardware, and software requirements
Participate in design verification testing and safety agency testing
Develop and implement strategies to secure and maintain UL, cUL, and CE certifications
Support CE compliance in accordance with Machinery, Low Voltage, and EMC Directives
Provide guidance on interpretation and application of applicable safety and EMC standards
Participate in early-stage new product development and changes to existing products
Support risk assessment activities related to safety and compliance risks
Develop or support Hazard Analysis and FMEA documentation for compliance-related mitigations
Specify or assist with selection of new and alternate components
Specify system test apparatus and equipment for pre-compliance evaluations
Assess reliability of components, equipment, and processes
Educate engineering teams on updated product safety and EMC regulations as needed
Pay: 130k-140k/year

Pay Details: $130,000.00 to $140,000.00 per year
