Job Requirements
15+ years of experience designing and packaging systems or devices
10+ years of medical device industry experience
5+ years of experience managing or leading an engineering team
Experience serving as a technical lead for mechanical engineering projects
Experience designing optical system packaging
Experience designing precision adjustment mechanisms
Experience incorporating innovative manufacturing processes into mechanical designs
Experience performing mechanical analysis
5+ years of experience leading optical device development
Knowledge of optical materials, coatings, basic geometric optics, and optical system troubleshooting
Proficiency with SolidWorks
Experience with opto-mechanical design
Experience incorporating Zemax designs into hardware
Experience with thermal management
Complete understanding of tolerance analysis
Complete understanding of engineering drawing methods
Knowledge of fabrication processes for optical sub-systems
Preferred Skills
Experience with mid-power laser-powered systems
Experience with disposable surgical fibers
Experience with thermal management for laser-powered or optical systems
Experience with laser-sintered metals
Experience with emerging or innovative manufacturing techniques
Experience mentoring Engineering Technicians, Engineers, and Senior Engineers
Experience balancing engineering team resources, capabilities, and project demands
Job Responsibilities
Manage the Mechanical Engineering group within a medical device division
Serve as technical lead for mechanical engineering design and development activities
Lead and mentor mechanical engineering staff ranging from Engineering Technicians to Senior Engineers
Provide technical direction on optical system packaging, precision mechanisms, and mechanical analysis
Support development of medical device systems and related mechanical sub-systems
Guide opto-mechanical design activities using SolidWorks
Incorporate Zemax optical designs into mechanical hardware
Lead design work involving optical materials, coatings, geometric optics, and optical system troubleshooting
Oversee mechanical design activities involving tolerance analysis and engineering drawings
Support fabrication process selection for optical sub-systems
Incorporate advanced manufacturing methods into mechanical and optical sub-system designs
Support thermal management design for optical, laser-powered, or medical device systems
Balance engineering resources and capabilities across active projects
Develop engineering staff through technical guidance, design review, and project leadership
Pay: 175k-185k/year

Pay Details: $175,000.00 to $185,000.00 per year
