Mechanical Engineer needed to lead HVAC and mechanical piping design, oversee construction document deliverables, and coordinate project execution with design, construction, and client teams.

Job Requirements

  • 7–9 years of mechanical engineering or mechanical design experience

  • At least 2 years of lead experience

  • Experience leading design teams in direct partnership with clients and design professionals

  • Proficiency with Revit

  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu

  • Experience with cloud-based design platforms, including BIM 360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud

  • Experience with HVAC and mechanical piping system design

  • Experience with system comparative analysis and selection

  • Experience with packaged equipment, pumps, and hydronic systems

  • Knowledge of Minnesota Mechanical Code

  • Knowledge of Minnesota Energy Code

  • Knowledge of ASHRAE publications, including Standards 90.1 and 62.1

  • Experience with HVAC loads and calculations

  • Experience using Excel-based calculation spreadsheets, Trane Trace 700, HAP, or IES VE

  • Ability to visit field sites for construction and client project meetings

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, SharePoint, and Teams

Preferred Skills

  • Mechanical PE license highly preferred

  • Active EIT pursuing PE highly preferred

  • Working knowledge of Minnesota Fire Code and NFPA standards

  • Working knowledge of building, mechanical, and plumbing codes

  • Working knowledge of model codes and codes for other states

  • Working knowledge of SMACNA standards

  • Experience with plumbing systems

  • Experience with VRF and refrigeration systems

  • Experience with controls and schematics

  • Experience with construction methods

Job Responsibilities

  • Sign construction document deliverables for assigned projects as the responsible PE

  • Directly supervise design staff

  • Mentor design staff on project execution and technical design requirements

  • Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for assigned teams

  • Coordinate with construction project managers to support project schedule and budget requirements

  • Lead coordination with owners, architects, and trade contractors

  • Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, and other design disciplines

  • Work with internal project managers, field superintendents, VDC teams, estimators, and purchasing teams

  • Support HVAC and mechanical piping design decisions from concept through construction documentation

  • Review mechanical design packages for code compliance, constructability, and project requirements

Pay: 110k-160k/year

Pay Details: $110,000.00 to $160,000.00 per year
