Sr. Firmware Engineer
Design, implement, verify, and document high-performance FPGA-based digital hardware in accordance with DO-254 DAL A certification requirements.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 4 years of related engineering experience.
- Experience with FPGA development.
- Experience with DO-254 compliance processes.
- Knowledge of DO-254 DAL A certification requirements.
- Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-516C or related certification guidance.
- Experience developing and maintaining hardware requirements.
- Experience using DOORS for requirements management and traceability.
- Proficiency with VHDL and/or Verilog.
- Experience with RTL coding and simulation.
- Experience with digital circuit architecture and design.
- Experience with FPGA resource tradeoff analysis.
- Experience with timing analysis and timing closure.
- Experience developing RTL testbenches using VHDL or SystemVerilog.
- Experience with FPGA simulation and synthesis tools such as ModelSim, Synplify, Quartus, or Vivado.
- Experience with revision control tools such as Git or Subversion.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting DO-254 DAL A certification activities.
- Experience with FPGA tool qualification and assessment.
- Experience developing verification plans.
- Experience with quantitative verification analysis.
- Experience maintaining requirements-to-design-to-verification traceability.
- Experience producing certification artifacts and compliance documentation.
- Experience with high-assurance or safety-critical digital hardware development.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and maintain FPGA and hardware requirements.
- Maintain traceability between system-level requirements, hardware requirements, implementation, and verification evidence.
- Create and implement complex FPGA-based digital hardware designs.
- Perform RTL coding using VHDL or Verilog.
- Develop testbenches for verification of RTL blocks.
- Perform functional testing and hardware verification activities.
- Conduct timing analysis and timing closure.
- Evaluate FPGA resource utilization and design tradeoffs.
- Develop verification plans and execute verification activities.
- Assess and qualify design and verification tools used in safety-critical hardware development.
- Maintain certification documentation, design records, verification results, and traceability matrices.
- Support DO-254 DAL A compliance and certification activities.
- Participate in technical reviews of requirements, designs, verification artifacts, and compliance documentation.
- Support hardware integration with system and software components.
Pay Details: $51.00 to $55.00 per hour
