AutoCAD Electric/Eplan Designer Controls Engineer
Develops industrial electrical designs, schematics, power calculations, and motor control systems in compliance with NFPA, UL, NEC, and applicable machine electrical standards.
Job Requirements
- High proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and/or EPLAN Electric P8.
- Experience developing industrial electrical schematics and control system documentation.
- Strong working knowledge of NFPA 70 National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Strong working knowledge of NFPA 79 electrical standards for industrial machinery.
- Strong working knowledge of UL 508A requirements for industrial control panels.
- Knowledge of IEC 60204 requirements for applicable European machinery.
- Experience designing motor control circuits.
- Experience with direct-on-line motor starters.
- Experience with soft starter applications.
- Experience with variable frequency drive (VFD) configurations.
- Experience performing short-circuit current rating (SCCR) calculations.
- Experience performing voltage drop calculations.
- Experience performing electrical power calculations for industrial equipment.
Preferred Skills
- Ford Global Vehicle Operations Structured Standards (GVOSS) experience.
- GCCH experience.
- Experience designing electrical systems for industrial automation or manufacturing equipment.
- Experience with industrial control panel design.
- Experience supporting machine electrical safety and compliance reviews.
- Experience developing power distribution and motor control designs.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop electrical schematics and control system designs using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN Electric P8.
- Design industrial power distribution and motor control circuits.
- Perform electrical load, power, voltage drop, and short-circuit calculations.
- Calculate and document short-circuit current ratings for industrial control systems.
- Design direct-on-line starter, soft starter, and VFD motor control circuits.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with NFPA 70, NFPA 79, UL 508A, and applicable IEC requirements.
- Develop and maintain electrical drawings, panel documentation, component specifications, and design records.
- Select electrical components based on system requirements, ratings, and applicable standards.
- Review electrical designs for code compliance and equipment safety requirements.
- Support electrical panel fabrication, equipment integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Revise electrical designs based on manufacturing, installation, and project requirements.
Pay Details: $36.00 to $48.00 per hour
