Job Requirements

  • Approximately 10 years of mechanical design experience
  • Advanced proficiency with Dassault Systèmes CATIA
  • Experience using 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA
  • Body-in-white tooling design experience
  • Experience designing tooling for automotive manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes
  • Experience designing mechanical systems for industrial automation or general assembly applications
  • Automotive industry experience
  • Experience developing detailed 3D models, assemblies, and production drawings

Preferred Skills

  • Honda body-in-white tooling experience
  • Knowledge of Honda design standards
  • Experience supporting automotive original equipment manufacturers
  • Experience with robotic welding, locating, clamping, and material-handling systems
  • Knowledge of fixture design, weld cells, and automated assembly equipment
  • Experience with design reviews, tooling validation, and manufacturing launch support

Job Responsibilities

  • Design body-in-white tooling and automated mechanical systems
  • Develop 3D models and assemblies using CATIA and 3DEXPERIENCE
  • Create detailed engineering drawings and tooling documentation
  • Design locating, clamping, welding, handling, and transfer fixtures
  • Apply GD&T requirements to tooling components and assemblies
  • Incorporate manufacturing, machining, fabrication, and assembly requirements into designs
  • Review customer specifications and automotive design standards
  • Perform tolerance reviews and verify tooling interfaces
  • Support design reviews and resolve mechanical design issues
  • Coordinate tooling designs with manufacturing, automation, controls, and assembly requirements
  • Modify existing tooling designs to support product or process changes
  • Support tooling build, installation, validation, and production launch activities
  • Investigate and correct tooling fit, function, tolerance, and manufacturability issues
  • Maintain CAD models, drawings, revisions, and engineering documentation


Pay Details: $42.00 to $57.00 per hour
