Weld Engineer

Certified Welding Inspector responsible for developing welding qualification documentation, interpreting engineering requirements, and supporting weld inspection and compliance activities.

Job Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing and qualifying WPS, PQR, and WPQ documentation
• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• Experience reading and interpreting specifications, schematics, and diagrams
• Proficiency with welding codes and standards, including:
  • AWS D1.1
  • AWS D1.2
  • AWS D1.3
  • AWS D1.6
  • AWS B2.1
  • ASME Section IX
• Working knowledge of welding processes, including:
  • FCAW
  • GMAW
  • GTAW
• Working knowledge of NDT methods, including:
  • UT
  • RT
  • MT
  • PT
  • VT
• Knowledge of weld inspection criteria
• Knowledge of ASNT TC-1A requirements

Preferred Skills

• ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification
• Industrial manufacturing experience
• Metal fabrication experience
• On-site audit inspection experience
• Lean Six Sigma knowledge
• Welding procedure qualification experience
• Weld quality audit experience
• NDT coordination experience

Job Responsibilities

• Develop Welding Procedure Specification documentation
• Develop Procedure Qualification Record documentation
• Develop Welder Performance Qualification documentation
• Qualify WPS, PQR, and WPQ documentation
• Inspect welds according to applicable welding codes and standards
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, and diagrams
• Apply AWS and ASME welding code requirements
• Review weld requirements for FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW processes
• Support weld inspection activities using applicable NDT methods
• Review UT, RT, MT, PT, and VT inspection requirements
• Apply weld inspection criteria according to applicable standards
• Support compliance with ASNT TC-1A requirements
• Conduct on-site audit inspections as needed
• Support welding quality activities in industrial manufacturing and metal fabrication environments
• Support quality system and process improvement activities

Pay Details: $22.00 to $30.00 per hour
