Painter / Powder Coater

Summary: Prepares metal surfaces and applies electrostatic powder coatings to produce durable, corrosion-resistant finishes according to process and quality requirements.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

• 1+ years of industrial painting or powder coating experience.

• Previous manufacturing experience.

• Experience preparing metal surfaces for coating.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended shifts.

• Ability to frequently bend and stoop.

• Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

• Experience using powder coating equipment and related application systems.

• Ability to follow established coating, curing, and quality procedures.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with electrostatic powder spray guns, feed hoppers, and reclaim systems.

• Experience with sandblasting or bead blasting.

• Experience using digital coating thickness gauges.

• Experience operating curing ovens.

• Experience masking precision surfaces, threaded areas, and holes.

• Experience performing coating rework and touch-ups.

Job Responsibilities

• Clean, degrease, sandblast, or bead-blast metal parts to remove oil, dirt, rust, and surface contaminants.

• Mask precision surfaces, threads, and holes using high-temperature tape and plugs according to process requirements.

• Load, unload, hang, and stage parts on conveyor lines, racks, or carts.

• Set up and operate electrostatic powder spray guns, feed hoppers, and powder reclaim systems.

• Apply uniform powder coating to metal parts, surfaces, and structures.

• Monitor curing oven temperatures and cycle times to ensure proper coating adhesion and curing.

• Inspect finished parts for coating coverage, thickness, runs, chipping, and contamination.

• Use visual inspection methods and digital thickness gauges to verify coating quality.

• Perform touch-ups and rework on parts that do not meet coating requirements.

• Clean spray nozzles, booths, recovery systems, and related coating equipment.

• Empty waste powder hoppers and perform routine equipment upkeep.

• Maintain coating and preparation areas according to established production and safety requirements.

Pay: 21-26/hr

Pay Details: $21.00 to $26.00 per hour
