Metrology & Dimensional Inspection Specialist
Metrology & Dimensional Inspection Specialist responsible for performing precision dimensional verification, First Article Inspection, and final inspection of complex manufactured and molded components.
Job Requirements
- 5+ years of dimensional inspection, metrology, manufacturing engineering, or quality engineering experience.
- Experience inspecting complex machined, molded, or aerospace components.
- Experience working within an AS9100 quality management system.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Ability to interpret CAD models.
- Advanced knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 requirements.
- Experience performing AS9102 First Article Inspections.
- Experience performing final dimensional inspections.
- Experience evaluating complex three-dimensional geometries.
- Ability to determine dimensional compliance through calculations and engineering analysis.
- Experience developing inspection methods for features that cannot be measured directly.
Preferred Skills
- Experience inspecting elastomeric molded products.
- Experience performing dimensional analysis using geometric relationships and trigonometry.
- Experience with sectioning or destructive inspection methods.
- Experience developing custom measurement and inspection techniques.
- Experience performing investigative dimensional measurements.
Measurement Equipment
- Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
- Vision measurement systems.
- Optical comparators.
- Height gages.
- Micrometers.
- Calipers.
- Bore gages.
- Pin gages.
- Surface plates.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) of complex aerospace components and elastomeric molded products.
- Perform final acceptance inspections.
- Verify dimensional requirements using engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Interpret and apply GD&T requirements in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
- Perform dimensional analysis of complex three-dimensional features and geometries.
- Develop inspection methods for dimensions and features that cannot be directly measured.
- Calculate dimensional values using measured data, geometric relationships, trigonometry, and engineering calculations.
- Operate precision metrology and dimensional inspection equipment.
- Determine product conformity based on objective measurement data.
- Document dimensional inspection results and nonconforming conditions.
- Perform sectioning or destructive analysis when required to verify internal features.
Pay Details: $20.00 to $27.00 per hour
