Senior Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for developing aircraft seating designs, preparing engineering drawings and bills of materials, and supporting products from concept through manufacturing release.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Energy Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 12 years of equivalent related engineering experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline may also qualify
  • 5+ years of related design experience with a bachelor’s degree
  • 4+ years of related design experience with a master’s degree
  • Advanced drafting and design experience with CATIA V5 or higher and/or Pro/Engineer
  • Advanced knowledge of aircraft seating products
  • Knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing processes
  • Mechanical design knowledge involving parts, assemblies, structural loads, and stress conditions
  • Experience preparing and reviewing engineering drawings and design documentation
  • Ability to review technical specifications and written engineering documentation
  • Ability to use standard office equipment and software

Preferred Skills

  • CATIA V5 experience
  • APQP experience
  • Design and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (D&PFMEA) experience
  • Control Plan experience
  • Experience with aircraft interior or seating system design
  • Experience supporting design-for-manufacturing activities
  • Experience developing structural and articulation systems
  • Experience preparing advanced bills of materials and long-lead item lists
  • Experience reviewing designs for regulatory and specification compliance

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop conceptual and detailed designs for new and existing aircraft seating programs
  • Review customer and vendor design requirements and incorporate applicable specifications into assigned products
  • Prepare overall design layouts, including structural and articulation systems
  • Establish design standards to maintain commonality across product lines
  • Develop engineering drawings and prepare design packages for release
  • Prepare advanced bills of materials and long-lead item lists
  • Review design packages for compliance with current specifications and applicable regulations
  • Support products through engineering release and manufacturing stages
  • Provide engineering liaison support to tooling and manufacturing functions
  • Resolve design issues identified during manufacturing
  • Coordinate technical design activities with engineering, tooling, manufacturing, customers, and vendors
  • Support design reviews and engineering documentation updates
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers


Pay Details: $40.00 to $45.00 per hour
