Lead Production Technician

Leads advanced troubleshooting, repair, production workflow, technician support, and continuous improvement activities for complex electronic and electro-mechanical products.

Job Requirements

• Associate degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• 8+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing, repair operations, or a related technical environment.
• Advanced knowledge of analog and digital electronics.
• Advanced knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, circuit analysis, power electronics, system integration, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair processes.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing complex system-level failures when standard troubleshooting procedures are unavailable or unsuccessful.
• Proficiency with oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power analyzers, signal generators, and other advanced diagnostic equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting interactions between hardware, firmware, software, assemblies, and subassemblies.
• Working knowledge of SAP or equivalent ERP systems for production, repair status, and inventory tracking.
• Experience coordinating repair priorities, labor assignments, workflow, and production resources.
• Experience working with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Operations functions.
• Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

Preferred Skills

• Experience leading or directing electronics repair technicians.
• Experience identifying recurring product failures and developing improved troubleshooting and repair methods.
• Experience developing technical work instructions and repair procedures.
• Experience with component-level electronics diagnostics and repair.
• Experience supporting RMA repair operations.
• Experience with 6S, Continuous Improvement Process (CIP), Lean, or related operational improvement programs.
• Experience maintaining training matrices and technician cross-training programs.

Job Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical escalation resource for complex electronic and electro-mechanical product failures.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, calibration, testing, and validation of complex power products and assemblies.
• Conduct component-level and system-level diagnostics using electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other applicable troubleshooting techniques.
• Diagnose failures involving interactions between assemblies, subassemblies, firmware, software, and hardware.
• Validate completed repairs through functional testing, calibration, tuning, and final system verification.
• Monitor daily repair workflow, production output, repair status, and schedule performance.
• Coordinate repair priorities based on production schedules and customer requirements.
• Assign labor and shift resources based on workload and production requirements.
• Provide daily technical direction and troubleshooting support to technicians and repair personnel.
• Maintain repair status and RMA tracking within SAP or applicable ERP systems.
• Ensure test equipment is operational, maintained, and calibrated according to applicable requirements.
• Maintain shop-floor inventory and support inventory control activities.
• Monitor availability of subassemblies, modules, printed circuit boards, and other materials required for repairs.
• Support First-In, First-Out (FIFO) workflow and material practices.
• Maintain technician training matrices and support cross-training activities.
• Conduct employee evaluations and document performance-related activities.
• Develop and update troubleshooting methods, repair procedures, and technical work instructions.
• Partner with Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Product Support to resolve recurring technical issues.
• Identify recurring product failures and recommend improvements to repair processes, documentation, and manufacturing practices.
• Lead and maintain 6S activities within repair and production areas.
• Conduct and document 6S audits, workplace guideline checks, and daily leader standard work activities.
• Support Continuous Improvement Process initiatives and improvement projects.
• Drive process standardization, workflow optimization, waste reduction, and repair efficiency improvements.
• Prepare reports covering continuous improvement activities, production performance, and project results.

Pay Details: $40.00 to $49.00 per hour
