Toolmaker/Machinist

Summary: Seeking a Toolmaker/Machinist to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools.

Requirements:

• Completion of an apprenticeship (4 years) or completion of Machinist's Training, Tool and Die Certificate, or Advanced Manufacturing Certificate

• At least 4 years of on-the-job training

• Ability to provide, maintain, and obtain own tools

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

• Proficiency in basic algebra and geometry calculations

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs

Responsibilities:

• Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions to determine materials required for the product

• Compute dimensions, plan layout, and determine assembly method sequence of operations

• Measure, mark, scribe metal stock for machining

• Build modify repair progressive dies

• Set up operate machine tools such as lathes milling machine shaper grinder verify conformance of machined parts specifications

• Verify dimensions alignments clearances

• Examine standard previously used dies tools jigs fixtures recommend design modifications construction function part

• Develop specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools draw sketch design product

• Comply with safety regulations maintain clean orderly work areas

 Pay: 28-35/hr

Pay Details: $28.00 to $35.00 per hour
