Heat Treater
Supports heat treating operations by preparing materials, operating and monitoring furnace equipment, and handling customer inventory according to established processing procedures.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of metallurgy and heat treatment temperatures.
- Ability to read and understand shop travelers, customer paperwork, and processing procedures.
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Availability to work overtime, alternate shifts, and weekends as required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods in an industrial environment.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach during production activities.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to work in environments with heat, fumes, noise, and humidity.
- Visual acuity sufficient to read documents, computer screens, and production records.
- Hearing ability sufficient for in-person and telephone communication.
Preferred Skills
- Previous heat treating or thermal processing experience.
- Experience operating industrial furnaces.
- Experience handling metal components in a manufacturing environment.
- Forklift operation experience.
- Experience working with shop travelers and customer processing specifications.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist with the operation, control, and monitoring of heat treating equipment.
- Follow processing requirements documented on shop travelers and customer paperwork.
- Prepare materials and components for heat treatment.
- Load and unload furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, and related equipment.
- Monitor heat treatment processes for irregularities or abnormal conditions.
- Report equipment, process, or product issues to supervision.
- Handle customer inventory according to established processing and protection requirements.
- Prevent product damage or loss during material handling and heat treatment activities.
- Follow applicable safety procedures and production requirements.
- Maintain housekeeping in assigned work areas.
- Perform material handling activities using forklifts as required.
- Complete additional production and heat treatment tasks as assigned.
Pay Details: $20.00 to $30.00 per hour
