Lead EHS Specialist

Implement environmental, health, and safety programs supporting manufacturing and laboratory operations while maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
• Minimum of five years of EHS or related experience
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and general workplace safety requirements
• Ability to interpret EHS regulations, codes, standards, directives, and administrative policies
• Experience implementing regulatory requirements within manufacturing or laboratory environments
• Knowledge of hydrogen, flammable chemicals, and associated safety requirements
• Experience with occupational safety and health programs
• Experience conducting workplace safety inspections and maintaining inspection records
• Experience performing Job Safety Analyses for equipment and processes
• Experience conducting PPE assessments
• Experience supporting incident investigations and corrective action tracking
• Experience maintaining chemical inventories and Safety Data Sheet systems
• Experience developing and delivering EHS training programs
• Working knowledge of data collection and statistical analysis
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel
• Ability to create technical reports, procedures, and safety documentation
• Ability to travel approximately 10–15%
• Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing and laboratory environment

• Experience supporting EHS programs within manufacturing operations
• Experience supporting laboratory safety programs
• Experience developing Chemical Hygiene Plans
• Experience with crane and forklift safety programs
• Experience coordinating powered industrial truck and crane training or licensing
• Knowledge of Global Harmonized System requirements
• Experience with electronic incident management and audit-tracking systems
• Experience developing EHS trend reports and compliance metrics
• Experience with Gemba walks and manufacturing floor safety assessments
• Knowledge of EHS management systems
• Experience with hydrogen or fuel-cell manufacturing environments

Job Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor EHS programs for manufacturing and laboratory operations
• Conduct routine safety inspections of fire extinguishers, cranes, emergency eyewash stations, safety showers, forklifts, and related equipment
• Complete electronic inspection checklists and maintain required EHS records
• Track safety audit findings, corrective responses, and audit closeouts
• Deliver EHS training, including new-hire safety orientation
• Coordinate crane and forklift training and licensing activities
• Develop Job Safety Analyses for new equipment and processes
• Complete and maintain PPE assessments
• Participate in incident investigations
• Maintain incident management system records
• Track investigation activities and generate EHS trend reports
• Maintain chemical inventory databases and associated GHS Safety Data Sheets
• Verify Safety Data Sheets remain current, approved, and accessible
• Develop and maintain Chemical Hygiene Plans where applicable
• Participate in operational meetings and Gemba walks
• Provide regulatory and technical guidance related to EHS requirements
• Apply applicable regulations, codes, standards, and safety directives to facility operations
• Support EHS compliance assurance activities and program rollouts
• Develop safety reports, procedures, manuals, and training materials
• Monitor EHS performance and identify opportunities for program improvement

Pay Details: $42.00 to $55.00 per hour
