Fabricate and weld mechanical structures and components using approved welding procedures, engineering drawings, and ASME requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of welding and fabrication experience
  • Proven welding experience
  • Experience with GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW welding processes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering documentation
  • Ability to interpret welding symbols and engineering weld callouts
  • Knowledge of different metals and material properties
  • Experience using grinders, saws, squares, calipers, tape measures, clamps, and related fabrication tools
  • Ability to weld in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions
  • Knowledge of Welding Procedure Specification parameters
  • Knowledge of applicable ASME welding specifications
  • Ability to inspect completed welds for conformance to specifications
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to pass an onsite welding test

Preferred Skills

  • Experience performing structural or mechanical fabrication
  • Experience fitting and aligning components prior to welding
  • Experience with manual and semi-automatic welding equipment
  • Experience inspecting weld quality against engineering requirements
  • Experience working to ASME welding standards

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify materials to be welded and determine the appropriate welding or fabrication method
  • Prepare materials for welding using grinders, clamps, measuring tools, and fabrication equipment
  • Fit and align components according to engineering drawings and specifications
  • Set up welding equipment and components according to job requirements
  • Weld components within established Welding Procedure Specification parameters
  • Perform GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW welding as required
  • Perform welding in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions
  • Operate angle grinders and other tools to prepare welded components
  • Clean completed welds and fabricated assemblies
  • Inspect welds for compliance with engineering callouts and quality requirements
  • Verify completed welds meet applicable ASME specifications
  • Read blueprints and take measurements to determine fabrication layouts and procedures
  • Operate manual and semi-automatic welding and fabrication equipment


Pay Details: $20.00 to $25.00 per hour
