Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety, chemistry, engineering, industrial hygiene, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience

  • Five or more years of environmental, health, and safety experience

  • Experience supporting production or manufacturing operations

  • Experience with chemical-processing environments

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local OSHA and EPA regulations

  • Experience managing environmental permits, regulatory reports, and compliance documentation

  • Experience conducting incident investigations and tracking corrective actions

  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and hazard communication requirements

  • Experience managing hazardous materials and hazardous-waste programs

  • Experience maintaining Safety Data Sheets and chemical inventories

  • Experience preparing OSHA 300 logs and related injury and illness records

  • Ability to work around acids, combustible materials, vacuum systems, high-temperature equipment, airborne dust, sharp materials, and chemical-treatment systems

  • Ability to regularly lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, and work around moving manufacturing equipment

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with semiconductor manufacturing, chemical vapor deposition, thin-film deposition, or related chemical processes

  • Chemistry background

  • Experience with low-pressure chemical vapor deposition systems

  • Knowledge of wet scrubbers and industrial effluent-management systems

  • Experience with acid-neutralization systems and regulated sewer discharge

  • Experience supporting CNC machining, milling, electrical discharge machining, or precision-fabrication operations

  • First Aid and CPR certification

  • OSHA 500 certification

  • Experience preparing Tier II and Toxic Release Inventory reports

  • Experience developing waste-reduction strategies

  • Knowledge of workers’ compensation administration

  • Experience coordinating emergency-response requirements with local authorities

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures

  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations

  • Integrate safety, environmental, prevention, workers’ compensation, and regulatory requirements into manufacturing operations

  • Analyze incident, injury, and environmental data to identify trends and corrective actions

  • Document occupational incidents, near misses, and accident investigations

  • Develop, assign, and track corrective and preventive actions

  • Conduct routine plant inspections and identify workplace hazards

  • Coordinate corrective measures with production, maintenance, and facility personnel

  • Develop and administer employee safety, environmental, and new-hire training

  • Select and coordinate outside training providers when required

  • Maintain training records and verify completion of regulatory training requirements

  • Administer personal protective equipment programs

  • Conduct respiratory-protection education, medical-clearance coordination, and fit testing

  • Maintain respiratory-protection and industrial-hygiene programs

  • Coordinate annual hearing tests and maintain the hearing-conservation program

  • Develop and maintain safety, industrial-hygiene, and environmental procedures

  • Manage the hazard communication program

  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets and facility chemical inventories

  • Conduct required periodic chemical inventory reviews

  • Perform and document job-safety analyses

  • Develop and maintain first-responder, first-aid, and CPR programs

  • Chair and administer safety committee activities

  • Ensure hazardous materials and waste are properly labeled, stored, handled, and disposed

  • Manage waste-disposal vendors and supporting documentation

  • Monitor environmental controls, wet scrubbers, effluent systems, and acid-neutralization processes

  • Prepare and submit federal, state, and local permit applications

  • Maintain environmental permits and regulatory certifications

  • Prepare Tier II, Toxic Release Inventory, waste, and new-process regulatory reports

  • Evaluate environmental and safety requirements for new equipment and manufacturing processes

  • Coordinate emergency-notification and response activities with local authorities

  • Support workers’ compensation case administration

  • Support applicable Americans with Disabilities Act compliance activities

  • Coordinate safety-related facility and maintenance projects

  • Maintain OSHA 300 records and required regulatory postings

  • Administer workplace drug-testing program requirements

  • Track Total Recordable Incident Rate and Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred Rate

  • Maintain environmental compliance, industrial-hygiene, safety-procedure, and training metrics

Pay: 50-60/hr

Pay Details: $50.00 to $60.00 per hour
