Cable/harness assembler (MUST BE ABLE TO SOLDER)

Builds, inspects, tests, and documents custom cable and wire harness assemblies in accordance with engineering requirements and ISO 9001 standards.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and work instructions

• Experience using hand tools, crimpers, soldering equipment, and measuring devices

• Experience preparing, cutting, stripping, terminating, and routing wire and cable

• Experience with crimp-style and solder-style terminations

• Familiarity with shielding methods and cable assembly techniques

• Experience using electrical test equipment, including multimeters

• Ability to verify continuity, resistance, and circuit integrity

• Ability to follow ISO 9001 quality procedures

• Experience inspecting assemblies against technical and quality requirements

Preferred Skills

• Experience in cable and harness assembly, contract manufacturing, or electromechanical production

• Experience operating wire cutting, stripping, crimping, and preparation equipment

• Experience with multiple shielding and soldering methods

• Experience performing first-piece and in-process inspections

• Experience troubleshooting cable, harness, and electrical assembly issues

• Experience training employees on assembly processes and quality requirements

• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and 6S practices

• Experience working with complex cable and harness assemblies

Job Responsibilities

• Assemble custom cable and wire harness products

• Read and follow engineering drawings, schematics, visual diagrams, and work instructions

• Cut, strip, crimp, solder, terminate, label, route, and bundle wires and cables

• Install connectors, terminals, shielding, sleeving, and related components

• Set up and operate wire and cable preparation equipment

• Use multimeters and related test equipment to verify continuity, resistance, and circuit integrity

• Inspect completed assemblies for workmanship, dimensions, routing, and specification compliance

• Verify first-piece assemblies before beginning production runs

• Perform in-process inspections and document quality results

• Identify and report nonconforming materials, assemblies, or documentation

• Troubleshoot wiring, termination, shielding, and test failures

• Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 procedures and controlled work instructions

• Maintain tools, equipment, and assembly work areas

• Support Lean manufacturing, 6S, and continuous improvement activities

• Train and assist less-experienced assemblers as assigned

Experience Levels

• Assembler I: 0–2 years of cable or harness assembly experience; performs basic assembly tasks under direct supervision

• Assembler II: 2–5 years of cable or harness assembly experience; builds moderately complex assemblies and performs electrical testing with limited supervision

• Assembler III: 5 or more years of cable or harness assembly experience; builds complex assemblies, performs inspections and troubleshooting, and trains other assemblers

Pay: 20-25/hr

Pay Details: $20.00 to $25.00 per hour
